Looking for any help with Yore friendly suggestions and prior experience in Chicago for Cubs games and entertainment for 3 days. Heading to the windy city to watch the Cubs vs. Royals for a 3 game series in later July.
I'd appreciate any help or suggestions for places to stay on a friendly budget. Open to taking the sub or Lift options to the games. I've got plenty of museum ideas for day activities. Looking for any ideas and experiences from y'all that have been there! Thank you!

Stay in old town and get a 3 day metro pass

Can type a pit more now. Lots of cool bars and restaurants on wells in old town. Always seemed like more of a locals area instead of the tourist stuff inside the loop. Very good breakfast spot in old town (not on wells) called 3rd coast cafe. If you want to go to those places they are just a few stops away on the subway. I’m a moron but i was capable of fight out the subway/train without issue. Train stop right by Wrigley field as well

I'm going to the game tomorrow, I'll let you know 😂

If you are out late and need a drunk snack - get Dimos pizza south of Wrigley. If you have some time, hit up Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinders off Clark near the St. Valentines Day Massacre area... cool spot with good food. I have a ton of recommendations if you need any.

Highly recommend this -

I’ve always stayed in North Loup and just took the train everywhere. Pretty simple to get around. I’ve done an architecture tour on the river like 3 times and learn something new each time. They are worth it. Take some time to walk along the river, plenty of spots to get drinks and hang out.

If you’re a Cubs fan, go to Billy Goat Tavern down on the lower level of downtown. Cool history in there. Cheap greasy burger and an Old Style of Schlitz. One of those things I do each time I go to Chicago just to say I did it.

I’m a Giordanos Pizza guy but deep dish pizza in general is awesome to me.

Al’s Italian Beef is legit by Wrigley. Best bar is Murphy’s Bleachers.

Threw down a couple 2 am slices from Dimos on the walk back to the place when I was in Wrigley just a couple weekends ago. Great choice.

Is the trip more family oriented or a party? If it's the latter I always recommend going with a group and splitting an AirBnb that's walking distance to the stadium. Taking the L everywhere can start to become a pain (except to the airport and back) and Uber/Lyft adds up.

Gotta hit Murphy's before the game and Cubby Bear after (especially after a Cubs win).

Any purchases at the bars around the stadium or in the stadium, I'd just say prepare to complain about the prices to your friends.
