CEO Frost Idea is Shit

Nick Saban should never again hire a fired head coach to be his OC ever again. Their record as a HC clearly means they are shitty on offense.
This doesn't make a lick of sense? Are they the HC or the OC? See this is where the problem lies. Frost may be a good OC, but he is a shitty coach and he isn't too hot at being an HC + OC. The biggest red flag to me about Frost staying involved in the offense is that the defense, the side of the ball he has nothing to do with keeps getting better, while the part of the ball he's involved in gets worse. And don't throw the meaningless yards stat at me. Show me stats like points per play, red zone efficiency, and stats that actually help you identify if your offense is good enough to win football games.

You’re missing the point. You came in at the wrong time of the conversation and that’s why it doesn’t make sense to you.

3 phases.
I think offense has been slightly better than special teams which is positive?

I'm not sold on the reorganization if there aren't some serious hires made on the offensive side of the ball.

The fact that Ron Brown is apparently the only name out there for RB is not a good sign of what's to come but we'll have to wait and see.

Wait wait wait...

Your take is that the side of the ball that he's "hands off" with is the only one getting better. But you're in support of the CEO style coaching where he would have involvement in every facet? So which is it - you can't want him to not "infect" the Defense and like the CEO model.

So now you're arguing for what I originally brought up in principle - because he IS our HC like it or not. So maybe we need to operate differently than we currently are? Also - 50% made FG stat effects offensive scoring numbers but is a ST stat.

My actual argument is that he doesn't have any involvement in anything. He shouldn't be the head coach at all. Now given we wait another year for that to happen, I am guessing if he is a CEO it means he is overseeing things and not in the day-to-day gameplanning of shit.

This isn't perfectly thought out...it may need some tweaks...

Anyone else think this CEO model is a shit idea for Frost? I am a big believer in keep people in their strengths - expand their opportunities for their strengths to shine.

4 years ago - HCSF was thee up and coming offensive mind in the college football world. So why not get older high level assistants from various areas around Frost. Also - I have been told repeatedly that we cannot compete in the college landscape anymore because of the power shift. So change the fucking way we do things.

Fuck being "like Wisconsin" Fuck being "like Bama" just make a new way made up of guys who can bring the best pieces of various aspects to one central location. Get a bunch of people around Frost that will say "Here's what we are doing - let's all go forward of the same mind." Give everyone more responsibility in the areas they are great at - give them titles and salaries that are higher than what they'd expect. All we ever heard was Walters is fighting Frost, Austin is fighting Frost, Lubick bailed too fast after the season and caused a riff, I thought there were reports of Harry Potter instructing QBs differently than what Frost wanted.

1) Say Fuck the CEO idea - HCSF isn't Saban, He isn't Urban, He isn't Herm, He just isn't and that can be OK - At least say Fuck the CEO idea as it is typically being carried out in today's College Football

2) Let Frost run wild offensively again. He is a HC/OC hybrid. It all still falls on his shoulders - but break up so much of the responsibility.

3) Break up your OC salary to significantly up your assistants we need to bring on

4) Hire Mickey as your "OC"/Offensive Recruiting Coordinator/WR

5) Get Chad Morris as QB/AHC/Pass Game Coordinator - Would say Harrell but this plan isn't to groom HC's like he'd want

6) Bill O'Boyle comes on as OL/Run Game Coordinator

7) Bill Busch STC/Defensive Recruiting Coordinator

The CEO aspect should play out in that he speaks into multiple facets, but doesn't deal with any of them in the weeds. Frost/Morris schedule practices. Frost/OBoyle/Mickey scheme everything out. And this would allow us to significantly raise these guy's expected salaries - make it impossible to say no.

Let's be different - Let's change the damn landscape ourselves.

Mostly - GET SOME GUYS LOCKED UP! We are sitting here bowl-less and we are getting close to getting surpassed for hires for next season now as well. If we aren't bowling, we should be getting ahead for next year.
If I'm being honest OP, the offensive coordinator version of Frost has looked like one of the shittiest parts of the team.

I can appreciate that - so do we think he just forgot offense?

Or is it possible that the other responsibilities, low involvement from previous AD, and dissension throughout the staff after losing seasons contributed to the degradation of his offensive planning and prowess?

Fun seeing the different stances and nuances of our issue.

I just don't think he was that good to begin with. He didn't call plays at Oregon, and McKenzie Milton was elite at creating plays during their 13-0 season. I also think the pressure of calling plays for Nebraska and not some other school has gotten the best of him mentally.

I'm mostly an idiot, but I've always thought Frost O works when he has superior athletes who can win one on ones or turn a well blocked run play into a house call and he just doesn't have that at Nebraska.

I read a Carolina newspaper article shitting on Joe Brady about how him relying on having superior athletes was fine at LSU, but that shit doesn't work in the NFL and calling plays to set up matchups like he would in college doesn't work because the NFL is freakier. I think similar logic applies to frost at Nebraska
