This isn't perfectly thought out...it may need some tweaks...

Anyone else think this CEO model is a shit idea for Frost? I am a big believer in keep people in their strengths - expand their opportunities for their strengths to shine.

4 years ago - HCSF was thee up and coming offensive mind in the college football world. So why not get older high level assistants from various areas around Frost. Also - I have been told repeatedly that we cannot compete in the college landscape anymore because of the power shift. So change the fucking way we do things.

Fuck being "like Wisconsin" Fuck being "like Bama" just make a new way made up of guys who can bring the best pieces of various aspects to one central location. Get a bunch of people around Frost that will say "Here's what we are doing - let's all go forward of the same mind." Give everyone more responsibility in the areas they are great at - give them titles and salaries that are higher than what they'd expect. All we ever heard was Walters is fighting Frost, Austin is fighting Frost, Lubick bailed too fast after the season and caused a riff, I thought there were reports of Harry Potter instructing QBs differently than what Frost wanted.

1) Say Fuck the CEO idea - HCSF isn't Saban, He isn't Urban, He isn't Herm, He just isn't and that can be OK - At least say Fuck the CEO idea as it is typically being carried out in today's College Football

2) Let Frost run wild offensively again. He is a HC/OC hybrid. It all still falls on his shoulders - but break up so much of the responsibility.

3) Break up your OC salary to significantly up your assistants we need to bring on

4) Hire Mickey as your "OC"/Offensive Recruiting Coordinator/WR

5) Get Chad Morris as QB/AHC/Pass Game Coordinator - Would say Harrell but this plan isn't to groom HC's like he'd want

6) Bill O'Boyle comes on as OL/Run Game Coordinator

7) Bill Busch STC/Defensive Recruiting Coordinator

The CEO aspect should play out in that he speaks into multiple facets, but doesn't deal with any of them in the weeds. Frost/Morris schedule practices. Frost/OBoyle/Mickey scheme everything out. And this would allow us to significantly raise these guy's expected salaries - make it impossible to say no.

Let's be different - Let's change the damn landscape ourselves.

Mostly - GET SOME GUYS LOCKED UP! We are sitting here bowl-less and we are getting close to getting surpassed for hires for next season now as well. If we aren't bowling, we should be getting ahead for next year.

Indeed. But he’s had 4 years to show it translates and it hasn’t. Look at the W column
So restructure him to CEO everything? We think that makes this better? Get him into more oversight and offload what he had been best at? I would think you’d want to go the other way - focus on smaller and be very good at that.

What’s the suggestion other than firing him?

Well he’s the head coach so I don’t think you can demote him?

Not making him a CEO style coach isn’t a demotion - you can set it up however you want. That’s kinda my point…who says he has to be like Saban when we aren’t structured like that to begin with.

Emulation is stupid when you’re just acting.

I’d say the underlying issues with this team are culture and attention to detail (that is if you don’t believe it’s the overall schemes) so therefore theoretically allowing a HC to focus on those things would maybe improve the situation (clearly I’m not a believer). Are you proposing that keeping Scotty boy doing the same things he’s been doing would somehow magically improve after 4 years?

I’m saying get people around him that actually covers his flaws

All I hear is that the job is too big for him - so let’s make it seemingly bigger? I’m sorry but I can’t see HCSF up on the scaffolding with a bullhorn (insert that scene in Rudy)

No - Turd needs to do what he does best which is creatively restructure to get the most out of a situation. This is one dart at a board at a way to accomplish that, that’s all.

So hire some one to be the HC but not be the HC?

You don’t read very well do you?

Does adjusting to cover flaws immediately mean demotion to you? Or could that be best for organizations?

For instance, an article that always stuck with me about what makes Howard Schultz so great at running Starbucks:

“He’s hired seasoned execs from companies like Microsoft and Disney to serve on Starbucks’ management team. As Myron Ullman, JCPenney’s chairman and a Starbucks director, told Forbes: “There’s a lot more here than just The Howard Show. Leadership doesn’t have to come from Howard on every topic.”

For some reason when we look at HC’s we think they do everything perfect…that’s rarely the case. Who minimizes the flaws they do have the best by hiring badass teams around them that challenge one another and grow.

I can read I just think it’s ridiculous to think you could hire assistants to cover this programs flaws which include attention to detail, game management, offense, special teams, turnovers, penalties etc. and to think the offense has been good (it hasn’t)

Then what’s the fix as we sit right now ThommyMD?

Fire Scotty boy and hope to catch lightning in a bottle
Couple things:
1) That’s not as we sit right now…it’s been established - he’s staying. So what do you do…

2) what a plan “hope to catch lightning in a bottle” - WAY better than trying to strategically improve your staff

Can always fire someone. ‘Merica

-strategically hiring someone to oversee everything Scott has done poorly in 4 years is not really a plan either since he’s done nothing well as a HC or OC.
