Sam Thomas is also out there - he couldn't work out at the camps because he was injured but they wanted him to

On RSS he said if they couldn’t do it this Monday it would be last weekend in July.

Monday is dead period, no coach contact with a HS junior on or off campus
Got it. I recall that. And there's been no indication they're coming tomorrow? Everything about this feels like one party (or both) isn't particularly hot for the other and that either he'll be left without a spot or go somewhere else. The only thing keeping me from being totally confident about that is Benning keeps talking about what an odd duck his kid is in this regard.

He told Schaefer they were coming tomorrow, but tomorrow is the dead period.

I really don't know what to make of it. All of the options are odd:

1) They are planning on coming because they don't know there is a dead period. This strikes me as highly implausible, especially because I recall you specifically having this exchange with Benning on HOL. It also doesn't seem like something any of the NU staffers would have failed to recognize or mention.

2) They know it's a dead period, but are planning on coming and doing normal visit things anyway. Considering this is a recruiting violation, it seems extremely odd that they'd do this. It's even more bizarre that they'd be so open about it.

3) They know it's a dead period and are just going to go around Lincoln on their own without any proscribed contact with NU staff. Okay, fine--maybe this is the least strange option. It's still peculiar, though, because why would they even need to do this? I can't imagine how many times both Bennings have been in Lincoln--the football facilities, campus, and the city overall. What could this possibly do in moving the needle?

Does DB being employed by UNL (Husker Radio Network) change anything with the rules?

Removing Benning and Tuataga visits scheduled for the last week in July.

There are no OVs allowed for HS Juniors after the Sunday before the last Wednesday in June until the junior year ends 7/31. Once senior year starts, OVs may resume September 1 (or in late August if a team has a game in late August).

Nebraska will also not host UVs that week because B1G media days are 7/26-27 and the Football Staff Retreat is 7/28-30.
