Best stat of the day

Sadly, that stipulation(though widely believed and reported) isn’t in his contract.

He receives incentives for averaging >25 points per game. The “hE’s GoNnA gEt FiReD” narrative is something our moronic fan based has managed to breath into life.

There’s still plenty of scenarios where he’s still calling plays next season regardless.

You all should hope for that outcome.

I will continue to drink heavily.

Ferentz used to be on a rolling 2 year contract, not any more.

He is on a one year contract, with a $50,000 decrease in pay to $850k. If the team wins 7 games and average 25 points a game then Brian Ferentz will go back to his original 2 year rolling contract with a raise to $925k and a bonus of $112,500.

If Cockeye does not meet those objectives then Brian Ferentz's contract runs out on June 30. 2024.

So no, Brian Ferentz won't be fired if Cockeye doesn't meet the 7 win, 25 point objective, but he won't have a job at Cockeye either.

At what point in the off-season did he realize what a horrible decision he made?

this article says differently i guess

It's funny this scenario is included.

Because let’s say Cockeye is leading Nebraska 23-14 with less than 20 seconds left in the fourth quarter and has the ball on the Nebraska 1-yard line.

With the way in which Brian Ferentz’s contract is now set up, Cockeye would have to score a touchdown, or at least kick a field goal, to meet the 25-point requirement.

But that would also go against everything Brian’s father, Cockeye head coach Kirk Ferentz, stands for as a coach, as a strategist, and as a person.

The safest play would be to take a knee and let the clock expire because there would be little chance of making a mistake, and it would also show respect for the opponent, which is important to Kirk Ferentz.

Against Western Michigan they were on the 2 yard line with 30 seconds left leading 34-10. They ran the ball in for a TD.

Isn’t Ferentz’s contract go thru 2029 with a 42mil buyout? Seems like it could turn into a sticky situation with a new AD who is supposed to be Brian Ferentz’s boss & there’s a real possibility that kirk & Brian can win another 9 games. We’ve seen him already clap back at fans about winning 10 games.

Brian was supposed to be gone last offseason but he couldn't get a job with the Raiders or Pats

It's so funny seeing/hearing Cockeye fans talk about the future of the coaching situation without any knowledge of how they work having only had two coaches in 40 years. All the taters in the fanbase are convinced bob stoops will come save them. Literal retardation.

Kirk is 68 right now, no way he coaches another 6 years. With a new AD in the house and the pressure he will be receiving to fire his son, I think the odds are pretty good that he retires at the end of this season. Hell, I could even see him announcing it in the next few weeks of things continue to trend poorly and pressure continues to build for him to fire Brian.

Rumors of retirement have been swirling for the past 5 years & it still hasn’t happened. I can see how this can get ugly & maybe Barta saw the writing on the wall & got his boy locked in to where new AD/prez will have to play nice. Kirk doesn’t strike me as the type to concede here, Brian/KKK/his ruthlessness on getting paid too dollar for 7-9 wins are all pretty good examples of his stubbornness

I just do not see what changes for them. I don’t think they actually get rid of Brian unless things absolutely tank offensively. Don’t get me wrong, it could happen, but if it doesn’t, I just do not see a strong drive within the AD for change. Could be wrong, but they are filling the stadium each week, and getting more money than ever. The majority of their canvases seems pretty content when I interact with them… so unless things tank, I’d be surprised by changes.

If I was the AD I'd definitely have a hire lined up that's going to be a home run before I fired him.

They'll probably go 7-5 ish this year. They fire Ferentz and go 5-7 and you'll have an uproar. If they go 5-7 he's probably fair game.

Yea, if the West was even decent, he would probably need to worry. And it just seems out of character for Cockeye to hire a “home run”.
I mean, most of the fan base considers Kirk a home run, when his greatest accomplishment is being encouraged by the fan base to continue doing what he’s been doing (aka pilfering the state for $100M+), and then getting his son in on the racket.

Right. If they just let KKKirk retire when he wants to they can hire another mediocre coach.
