Look, the entire Big Ten used to be a garbage conference, filled entirely with garbage players, garbage coaches, and garbage administrators. Universally horrible people.

Fortunately this changed about 12 years ago.

Honestly not all that surprising. Lots of good players on defense, but no one was really a superstar, standout type of player. In fact, who is the last “star” player we have had on either side of the ball? Tommy Armstrong maybe? Haven’t had a good feature back since Ozigbo. (Maybe more the fault of the O-line). On defense I can’t think of any big time standouts since the Little Bo Peep era. It makes White’s body of work all the more impressive.

- Butler and Reimer were 11th and 12th in tackles for loss, respectively
- Reimer and Butler were 8th and 9th in sacks, respectively
- Hill was 1st in passes defended
- Hill was 6th in interceptions
- Brown, Lynum, and Sanford were tied for 5th in fumbles forced
