They don't want their top teams playing four games in four days the week before the NCAA tournament starts.

It will be just like they do now with 14 teams, they'll just add another bunny bracket pitting 10 vs. 15 seed with the winner playing the 7 seed. Even if they did 16, they would still do it this way, adding another bunny bracket for the 8 seed to play, so you keep your top teams playing no more than three games in a row.
