No. 1 interior offensive line prospect Albert Simien is planning visits to a few top schools

by: Steve Wiltfong6 minutes ago

Lake Charles (La.) Sam Houston blue-chipper and Rivals No. 1 ranked interior offensive lineman Albert Simien is starting to look into visits he wants to take this fall.

“I have visits for LSU, Nebraska, and Texas A&M planned,” Simien said.

While Rivals No. 10 overall prospect is unsure of the dates, he talked about why he’s excited about each of those programs.

Brian Kelly and the Tigers are certainly pushing to keep the 6-foot-5, 280-pound Simien home. He is one of the top two-way linemen in America.

“The opportunity with LSU is unique in itself,” Simien said. “There is a lot of potential in the program. But still more for me and my family to learn about LSU. They have a great coaching staff that is well invested into the players.”

Texas A&M has Simien as one of its most coveted targets as well.

“A&M has a great coaching staff and a great environment surrounding their program,” Simien said. Rivals also recently talked to him about his interest in the Aggies.

“What excites me about Texas A&M is how they focus on development. I’ve seen how they train their offensive linemen, and it’s clear they’re serious about getting guys to the next level. The environment they’ve built stands out to me. Every time I’ve been on campus or talked with the coaches, I feel a strong sense of family. They treat their players with respect and genuinely care about who you are as a person.”

Nebraska has been on the rise with Simien since a visit at the end of summer.

“Nebraska has great coaches and people all around supporting the team,” Simien said. “It’s a great environment to have a football program at.”

Simien recently gave his Huskers experience high marks.

“Getting to visit Lincoln was great and having the opportunity to learn from not only the coaching staff but also the players was amazing.

“The Nebraska program has an extensive recovery program available for their athletes and the way the team is structured as a whole was something that really impressed me.”

Tennessee is another program Simien visited during the summer.

“The environment was really fun for the family to enjoy. It was a great opportunity for everyone to find out about how the Vols operate outside of playing football. Getting to talk with the O-line coaches about how my game has been progressing and what players game resemble my own gave me a better understanding of what positions I could play on the line.

“From a football standpoint UT has a lot in common with a few other teams I have already visited with how they develop their players but when it comes to getting a degree they pride themselves with getting each player a degree that will work for them in their interests in the field they are studying in.”

Besides the programs mentioned, Simien’s offer list includes the likes of Alabama, Florida, Notre Dame, North Carolina and Ole Miss. He is Rivals No. 1 overall prospect in Louisiana.

Simien talked with Rivals Sam Spiegelman at the end of July for more on his process.

If he doesn't end up at LSU I'll be shocked
