The primary purpose of bowl games is to have something to throw on to bridge awkward family gatherings. The only positive real football thing from there is extra practice.

I think this is a myth people use to explain to themselves why he doesn’t match their memories of him at Oklahoma State.
And if it were true that he’s still running an offense he doesn’t believe in after more than a year of being in charge of it, then that alone means he’s not the guy.

And you’re saying “pipe down back there” while maintaining course
Great parenting, dad. Excellent parallel you’ve drawn here.
The kids have used their extremely limited perspective coupled with a complete lack of understanding for what dad is saying to come to the determination that dad is going to drive off of a cliff and they are in imminent danger.
Dad is not saying everything is fine. Dad is not saying that everything is shit. Dad is saying let’s simply get to the next exit before we make a determination which will leave us PLENTY clear of said cliff.
The young girls are doing what they always do and being overly dramatic.
Further, none of us have a damn bit of control over this situation. You telling us over and over Rhule should be fired isn’t going to get us to that point any sooner.
I actually said privately yesterday and have echoed this here in this thread that Rhule needs a lot to break his way that generally doesn’t for 2026 to work out.
It’s you who is reading everything that doesn’t echo exactly what your opinion is and shouting those people down.
Ok, when I see things like this I want to know how you know this. Back it up with a fact or two.
Problem is we’re already broken down and pushing.
I enjoy these discussions. It’s what message boards are for.
I’m in on Rhule. The end of the season was disappointing but we also lost our starting QB and were forced to completely switch the offensive gameplan because of it. I feel he has us headed in the right direction still.
Yeah, there’s no way it’s happening.
Which brings us back to my thoughts and what Ravi said which echo my exact thoughts:
1) Rhule isn’t getting fired anytime soon. We will not be eating that much dead salary. Won’t happen. So any talk about that is a waste of time
2) Before this year and last year we hadn’t been to a bowl game since 2016. The big ten is also tougher now than it was from 16-22. Now we’ve been to back to back bowl games in said tougher conference. So how do we reconcile the idea we think we are awful yet we’ve actually gotten better….?
3) So yes. The program has gotten better. No, it’s not the progress we want. Will we go in the right direction moving forward? I really don’t know. Is Rhule the guy to get us there? I don’t know.
What I do know is that he needs to nail the month of January. We will not know if he has until this time next year.
Everything is not okay. But not everything is shit either. The question becomes can Rhule elevate? Or is he a sub .500 guy and that’s all he’ll be moving forward?
Nobody wants to be sub .500 for eternity. But I do remember the days where we would have killed for a .500 record too.
