Mich is absolutely tier 2 until proven otherwise. They got handled by Oklahoma. They're just not on the level of Ohio St, Oregon, Penn St at this point and their ranking and record reflects that.
They’re a QB away from a solid playoff team imo. They have all the other elements pretty much.

a lot of donors prefer to have their name attached in some way to physical plant, etc. Nobody remembers who paid Joe Blow's NIL 20 years ago when you're dead.
And that’s why we’re going to never compete with the top teams. Their boosters don’t give a fuck. They just do what it takes to win.

We should name the facilities after the biggest NIL donors

If that’s what they care about, getting credit for their donations, there are ways to do that. That should simply be a logistical obstacle that the university should be able to figure out.

I think Biff's Butthole Surfers is still a pretty good team defensively, but pretty limited offensively. They will struggle against teams with better athletes in their front 7. Even Nebraska was able to keep them from sustaining drives for the most part.

We have better facilities and better NIL than the Indiana/Illinois/Minnesota/Cockeye teams that continually wreck our shit

It's 80% coaching, blaming NIL/facilities is cope

We do. It’s all about allocation of funds and what your donor base is willing to pay for. A lot of old money donors don’t want their money going to players. And if me telling you that, from credible interactions with these types, isn’t enough. The fact we all knew the interior DL was gonna be a problem and we didn’t address it, that should tell you something. We all knew RB depth was an issue, and we didn’t address it either. We did nothing and that should tell you something. We all knew the o-line needed to improve as well and we tried to make it a priority bringing in Rocco and Pritchett because protecting DR was imperative. We spent money where we could, but couldn’t afford to do all that was needed.

NU has an NIL problem. And I know many don’t want to believe it cause our donor base has enough money to address it. They just won’t, not like FSU, Miami and TT donors will. (I could’ve named a dozen other schools but I was trying to stick to schools who’ve been down and are spending their way out of that hole. Unlike Nebraska)

Our donor culture has never prioritized winning. It's been a huge problem during all of the turmoil that leads to coaching changes.

Compare that to SEC schools whose donors would slit someone's throat to get into the playoff.

Are we really that behind in NIL?
Dylan has to be making well into 7 figures. Spindler, Pritchett, McCullough couldn’t have come cheap.

Hanging onto Shavers, Barney and Johnson probably cost a fair amount too.

Not out on Rhule. I do think he has to make a couple significant moves this off-season.

Donovan Raiola has to go. If that means Dylan & Dayton aren't Huskers then so be it. Barney Cotton had better results.

EJ Berthal right behind DR. Year 3 and our RB room is nowhere near the standard for Nebraska. I do like Mozee's potential.
What’s really sad is the OL has actually improved under him from what it was with Frost. Yesterday should tell everyone that our OL is NOT where it needs to be to beat a team like Biff's Butthole Surfers so I agree with you, need to upgrade to a veteran OL coach. I think he eventually will be a good OL coach but FFS if we are spending big boy money on coaches then we should expect big boy results NOW, not in 5 years…..

And I’ll expand a little further from my own personal interactions. IMO it’s not that our donor base/culture hasn’t prioritized winning. It’s more they don’t understand or believe that using their money for NIL will accomplish that goal, winning. They’re very old and think there are still ways coach around not having the best players. They saw what T.O. did with a very average recruiting budget and don’t really understand how the changes over the last 20 years have made it impossible to win that way today.

And frankly you can’t tell a 75 year old billionaire anything. Their instincts, hard work and a little luck got them to where they are they don’t take advice from anyone. They might have at 55, but old rich people believe they have it all figured out and you’re not gonna change their mind.

Add to that the Nebraska way of work hard and be frugal. It’s an admirable quality but doesn’t lend well to NIL
