Now that Hoiberg has won a basketball game and turned the basketball program around, and because he will undoubtedly win his final six games of the season, is everyone back on the Hoiberg train?

I’m on the “I gave up on basketball awhile ago” train.
that doesn't matter. i don't care about basketball at all and i haven't watched a basketball game since Kobe was in the finals

does Hoiberg win us a Big 10 title next year?

All aboard!

train deal with it GIF

All aboard! In all seriousness though, I am fine giving him 5 years. It's almost been 3 years and what is 2 more after this year?

It's NU Men's basketball...they have been terrible for 125 years. In 125 years they have been to 7 NCAA Tournaments. Their last regular-season conference championship was 72 years ago.

I don't think he's a bad coach but I think they built a stupid roster. If you are going to have mostly finesse guys that want to stand around the arc and shoot threes you better have an elite point guard that can drive and create shots for all those guys because you can't defend/rebound so you better outscore.

They need to add some players for next year that have some toughness and defending/rebounding ability. I think the JUCO big guy should help. Hopefully Trey comes back because it really hurt to lose him with the broken foot this year.

It feels good winning but wow we are terrible.

Side note, wtf happened to Minnesota. Minneapolis is loaded with star basketball players. They currently have 2 conference wins

I go back and forth. On one hand the attempted roster flips with transfers has failed miserably. On the other hand he is now bringing in very high level high school talent between last year and this. He hasnt had to build a culture yet because he has had so much roster turnover that one hasnt formed. I am slightly intrigued to see what a roster composed of guys that came here out of HS and developed and grew and established a culture could accomplish here. So in the end I really don't care.

However if we are willing to give Frost time I am willing to give Hoiberg time. Even though I struggle seeing either workout long-term

I think more people wish they could say this, but they don't.

I just don't see why Hoiberg can't use the exact same excuse as Frost.

"Hey Husker Nation, when I first got here, I wanted to get wins for you and I felt the best way was to take some gambles on transfers. Unfortunately, that hasn't gone to plan. Over the last 2 years we have aggressively recruited the HS level and have signed 2 classes that will establish a foundation moving forward. I want nothing more than to take NU to places it has never been and though the first approach didn't work I am confident we can move this in the right direction." PS I took over a program with zero history in over 120 years of making any sort of noise in March and your chosen son has the worst win percentage at dear old Nebraska U in any of your lifetimes. Let me fix this or pay me 18 million George Washingtons.

Sincerely,
The Mayor
