Bear Tenney commitment: What does it mean for Nebraska?
Bryan Mongo • about 12 hours
The Nebraska 2025 recruiting class is rolling right now. Nebraska’s class has doubled in size in just two weeks after three offensive weapons have added their names to the Nebraska commitment list. Bear Tenney is the latest to commit to Matt Rhule and the Huskers.
Here is a breakdown of Bear Tenney and what his commitment means for Nebraska:
1. Nebraska is on a bit of a roll, adding the third commitment to the 2025 class in the last two weeks with the commitment by Bear Tenney. Matt Rhule and his staff have doubled the size of the class and are heading into their first official visit weekend for the spring game.
2. Tenney is an interesting prospect. He was holding over 40 total offers and has visited schools like Oregon, Auburn, and others. He can literally line up as a flex-style tight end, tight next to the offensive tackle, and in the offensive backfield. That versatility adds to Tenney’s value as a commitment.
3. Nebraska will take multiple tight ends in the 2025 class. That is a certainty. The Huskers add three tight ends in the 2024 class with four-star Carter Nelson, three-star Keelan Smith, and three-star Ian Flynt. Smith has started his career at Nebraska in the wide receivers room.
4. Tenney left Lucas (Texas) Lovejoy after his junior season and is now enrolled at Lehi (Utah) Lone Peak High School. Tenney is the first commitment for Nebraska from Utah since offensive lineman Branson Yager in 2021. Before Yager, the last Nebraska commitment was linebacker Jared Afalava in 2012.
5. The Huskers add another fast athlete at the tight end spot. Tenney was recently training, stating that he was 6-foot-6 and 245-pounds, and hit 21 MPH on the treadmill. Remember, Nebraska commitment Bryson Hayes similarly posted that he had a max speed of 21.3 MPH that he has posted on his social media.
6. The question everyone asked when Tenney committed was ‘What does this mean for Chase Loftin and Reiman Zebert?’. The Huskers will absolutely take multiple tight ends in the 2025 class which shouldn’t mean anything immediately to Nebraska’s interest in either of the two in-state tight ends that hold a Nebraska offer.
7. Nebraska’s recruiting efforts is gaining momentum at just the right time. The Huskers will host seven official visitors this weekend with some of the most important recruits at their positions in town for the spring game.
Some positivity around wanting to join the class, to follow 2024 quarterback Dylan Raiola like Tenney, Jackson Carpenter, and Bryson Hayes can only help the Nebraska staff put the class together.
