Given available roster spots, getting these guys with 1-2 years left guys would suggest attrition to me, not adding depth. Maybe Henrich and Reimer retire? Maybe Ty is leaving?

This defense doesn't call for a lot of 300 lbers - likely to only be one on the field a lot of the time. We have Nash & Jeudy and Ty post-Wynn. Buckley is 290.

The clock for guys entering the portal as undergrads is rapidly winding down. After this weekend the only attrition we'll likely see are grad transfers and retirements, unless some undergrad feels they are certain to get a waiver. And unless you are highly desirable, roster spots at the P5 level will be gone in probably 4 weeks.

Replied to you on another board with this same question on the topic of grad transfer windows, repeating it here...

I looked up this article from the official NCAA site and while it says that yes, grad transfers can enter the portal at any time, but it also goes on to say a few paragraphs down that fall sports grad transfers have a May 1 deadline to enter the portal.

So the answer to Lifer’s question may be “yes and no.” They can enter at any time, but if they want to play this coming season, they have to do it by May 1. At least that’s the way I read it. They do a poor job of explaining how they jump from “enter anytime” but end up at “the deadline is May 1.”

But if I’m reading that correctly, we should know about Casey in fairly short order.

Thanks

With CT, it is more an issue of whether or not we have two experienced QBs than a 85 counter issue, as I suspect he wouldn't have an athletic scholarship in any event.

Chad Simmons on Isaiah McMorris

Omaha (Neb.) Bellevue West three-star wide receiver Isaiah McMorris is hoping to commit before his senior season. Three schools are currently leading for him: Nebraska, Oklahoma and Penn State.
McMorris is taking an official visit to the Cornhuskers on the weekend of June 24, and also plans to take one to the Sooners. At the moment, Oklahoma is “probably No. 1” for the 6-foot-0, 170-pound wideout.
“I like the history of their receivers and the offense,” McMorris told On3. “Coach (Jeff) Lebby, he’s a mastermind with the offense and I just feel like I can excel in that offense. Building that relationship with him is really what sets them apart right now.”
McMorris visited Oklahoma on March 31. While in Norman, he toured the Sooners’ campus and facilities, as well as watched a scrimmage.
“I liked the energy that they brought in the scrimmage,” said McMorris, On3’s No. 59 wide receiver and No. 2 player in Nebraska. “Everything was just fast. Everybody was talking, everybody was competing and everybody was bringing energy.”
In addition to Lebby, McMorris is close with Sooners wide receivers coach Emmett Jones. He also offered the three-star when he was at Texas Tech.
McMorris also communicates with head coach Brent Venables.
“He really cares about me as a person and as a player,” McMorris said of Jones. “I just feel his passion every time he talks. Our relationship is probably the top relationship I have in my recruitment. And then, coach Venables, I talk to him too. Hearing those two voices is really key. I love Oklahoma a lot.”

McMorris discusses his interest in Nebraska and Penn State

McMorris has already visited Nebraska nearly 10 times. He communicates with wide receivers coach Garrett McGuire nearly every day, as well as head coach Matt Rhule and Director of Player Personnel Omar Hales.
“Matt Rhule and the new staff, they really stay recruiting me,” McMorris said. “They stay on me hard. The whole staff is like that. They’re telling me that I’m a priority for them.”
The Nebraska native likes how the in-state Cornhuskers are recruiting him hard, in part because they have recognized his talent. If McMorris chooses Nebraska, Rhule and Co. want him lining up both outside and in the slot.
Rhule has previously led successful rebuilding efforts at Baylor and Temple. McMorris is confident he can do the same in Lincoln.
“Everybody knows that Nebraska used to be one of the top programs,” McMorris said. “These last couple years, they haven’t been. So, they’re just bringing a winning mindset and I really like that mindset because when you go to college, you want to win. That’s what really stands out the most.”
Meanwhile, McMorris has not visited Penn State yet, but plans to do so this summer. A key reason for his interest in the Nittany Lions is wide receivers coach Marques Hagans.
“I’ve communicated with him for a long time,” McMorris said. “I like his energy and what they see in me. They see me in a similar role to Jahan Dotson and Parker Washington, so I could really see myself playing there just by watching their film.”

USC is also involved in McMorris’ recruitment

Even though USC is currently outside of McMorris’ top three schools, the Trojans are working to make up ground. He hears from inside receivers coach Luke Huard almost every day.
McMorris recently visited the Trojans on April 8. He left Los Angeles with an offer.
“I love USC a lot just because of the play style of its offense,” McMorris said. “The screen passes are really important to them. They get their players in space, put the receivers in the backfield. That’s what I really like about USC.”
At the moment, McMorris is unsure about whether he will take an official visit to USC. However, the three-star already knows what matters most to him in a school.
“Definitely the offensive scheme, the relationships,” McMorris said. “I want to go to a school that I feel comfortable with. If anything happens, I can talk to the coaches. I just want a place that feels like I’m at home. Playing time matters too. Ultimately, I want to play right away.”

I thought USC was the lock here
