The truth is that Duvall has turned most of our lineman into fat slobs. Ty Robinson was better as a true freshman, now he's an immobile lumbering idiot.
What about our D lineman like Stille, Daniels, and Thomas last year? They looked like they were at their best. Maybe we need to recruit better players too. I think it’s a combo of everything myself.

Stille and Thomas definitely looked slower the longer they were in the program. Daniels got quicker because he was cutting bad weight from HS

They looked at their best last year. Especially Stille. Robinson has never been very good. He has showed flashes. It’s easy to show some flashes when you’re not playing a lot of snaps. He wasn’t good last year either. Rogers was better when healthy. Now Robinson is the man, and he isn’t that good. If he would have picked Bama over us, he would have definitely been processed by now. I’m fine with War Daddy being shown the door, but we have blamed the strength coach since Solich. We need to find the right coach who can recruit some dudes.

Yeah I'd have to agree with this. I had him completely written off in 2019 because he looked like his feet were in concrete. He was our best d lineman in 2021.

Meh. He played like 20 snaps a game bruh.

Daniels was just a run stopper. He did a decent job, but like you said he wasn’t on the field near the snaps like Stille. I was also down on Stille before last year, but the guy was solid.

None of them have any business playing on a Power 5 defense. The lack of talent is staggering. Combine that with our putrid OL, and the program is in worse shape than when Riley was fired.

Have we ever given up 600 yards twice in a season?
you must have forgotten how fucking bad we were talent wise in 2017, im not defending our guys but ‘17 was a different level of fucking suck

I don't think that's a reflection on Duval. I think it was more on Frost wanting a bigger team.. That is jmo.

It felt like post Michigan his first year he wanted a bigger team. They went to the complete opposite end of the spectrum. When they needed to get more size but not sacrifice their explosion

True, Frost was ultimately deciding what they wanted and telling Duval to get it done.

The shift you're referencing wasn't so much a s&c shift, but the type of player we recruited. Bigger WRs, bigger OL, bigger everything (including defense).

I don't think Thomas could carry a lot of weight and he played light most of his career. Dudes like Thompson have gotten huge with very little gain. He may have been a top tier recruit who was actually going to be a bust anywhere but he looks significantly less athletic and explosive now than he did when he showed up.

But there is probably something more broad here in that we don't recruit lots of guys who are top tier athletes to be developed.

We had Farmer and Farmer on the OL, and had the Davis twins on the DL. We have no one close right now. And our defense is worse this year vs. an easier schedule.
