wonder, if he had to do it all over again, if Rhule wouldn’t make the comments about all of the money we had to compete.
All the guys already on the roster

Priced out again ☹️
But but but I thought he wasn’t even going to make it to campus
But I thought he couldn't qualify academically? We're a fucking joke.
It's not that they couldn't match the $$, moreso they didn't feel it was worth the risk of upping the $$ for a guy who was A) not certain to qualify and B) similar in size to their 2 portal DTs.

Sounds like they decided that rather than getting into a bidding war with a flakey JUCO (committed to 4 schools and still possibly visiting Penn St) with eligibility uncertainty, they're better off using that $$ for Berymon and/or a possible portal DT.

He'd break out the preacher voice and tell us that "what I possibly should have said was that..." and here comes the double talkin' side show bob havin' devil talk about using the resources we do have properly and not throwing money around like we're a university that just spends to spend, let's be good stewards of what the Lord has provided and actually get a ROI on the players we DO have.

That means we'd have to have coaches that are developers of the talent on the team. Which has been a mystery to this point

You are one of like 8 posters on here who understands what risk-reward is.

Honestly think this JUCO DT might be better able to explain the math of the situation better than the majority of posters here.

There is no NIL commitment until he graduates and qualifies which would be summer. Not sure how they wouldn’t work that into the deal. You’re not getting paid until you qualify. Maybe someone would top that and say we will pay you now and doesn’t matter if you qualify or not. It’s always a little hard to tell as we don’t have all the info.

A DT popping in this late will draw a big number and probably already be set to go somewhere with how the portal is picked over at this point.

The hs player is a risk too and a bit of a desperation recruit for NU in that he will be getting paid his freshman year as he redshirts and works to qualify. We would then be hoping he stays after he gets eligible. Just a lot of desperate recruitments that I wish we weren’t in heading into year 4. Fingers crossed it works out.

I don't think this is true. It isn't uncommon to pay NIL before a HS player is enrolled in college, for example.
