It's only embarrassing if you haven't been paying attention and/or you are a completely fucking idiot.

Texas Tech has proven that 1) they are willing to outspend anyone and everyone for portal players they want - they targeted White as a top priority. On top of that, they also have a proven track record of taking portal players and them having tremendous success.

Lastly - players don't follow their coaches all the time! Remember last year when Tony White left for FSU - Princewell ended up transferring to Ole Miss. The majority of our defensive players that left ended up at other schools than FSU.

Don't be so simple minded...
Not only that but Tech has probably been talking to him for a while. We might have only tried talking for couple of weeks.

Pretty well known that last years portal was extremely weak, a lot of the big time teams sat out last year.
I was gonna say the opposite actually. This year's portal class seems very meh to me compared to last years. It seemed like last years class had a lot more big names, especially at WR and QB. This year the biggest name to me is probably Sorsby, and he could barely hit 50% of his passes for less than 70 yards against some shit barely-made-a-bowl team.

Cam Coleman is a better prospect than any kid from the portal this year. And the portal at OL/DL is infinitely better this year than last year.

I agree that Cam is. He's an absolute stud. But behind him doesnt really seem like much right now.

So is it fair to say that it really just depends what positions you look at then? Instead of saying one class is weaker/stronger than another?

Yes, it’s too early to panic, but I understand the frustration. A lot of great players are already off the board, and from what we can tell, we were never really a player for most of them.

I don’t expect us to compete with Tech or Indiana, but Wisconsin, Oklahoma State, ASU, etc... come on. None of those schools generate the revenue or NIL that we do(or maybe they fucking do idk).

I’m with the majority: let’s see how this plays out. That said, I was hoping for more of a splash, especially considering how the season ended and how desperate we are at several positions of need

I have a potentially stupid question. How frequently do kids in the transfer portal publicly commit, then end up still taking visits and flip? I can't imagine that it happens very much, but don't know how unprecedented it is.

I have no idea either. But would not be surprised to see it become an issue.

Hindsight 20/20, was it a bad class?

The four semifianlists:

Transfers from last year's portal:
Miami: 11 of 22 starters
Ole Miss: 11 of 22 starters
Indiana: 7 of 22 starters
Oregon: 7 of 22 starters
