Was kind of wondering bc Memphis and would think we could beat them in NIL without much effort.
I’d bet dollars to donuts dooshman took a screenshot of him having a conversation with himself there
why does everyone seem think that saying we now have competitive financial resources equates to us being able to acquire the most expensive guy at each position? Show me where anyone said anything close to us to a promise that we would be able to outbid everyone else for the best guy at most positions in the same year.
What could Rhule be pissed about Vegas for? That’s the same team we saw all year except slightly worse

Probably just connecting dots to Rhule saying we wouldn’t be out bid for any players and now seemingly being “out priced” for their top targets. I don’t think anyone expected to get the top player at every position but probably didn’t expect to be outbid on all of the staffs top targets

There was also a lot of talk from the announcers of their first playoff game speaking to the fact that he just turned 20 and there were many in his camp that thought it would be good for him to have at least one more year in the program before going to the NFL.
Issue was he is looked at as a top pick and they would balance that consideration.

Being outbid for a guy you really want means (to me, at least) that you simply do not have the funds to bid more. I.e., the guy is worth what the other party is bidding but you can't match or beat the offer.
Guys getting priced out to me means that you think you're better off getting someone else for less -- you decide not to pay the higher price because you think you won't get adequate return on the higher price (and, of course, you're trying to optimize the total return).

Yeah. This is like a problem of optimizing your portfolio. You have X dollars and you want the highest return on where you invest those dollars, how do you split those dollars across multiple stocks to get you the best return?
But it's more complicated because stocks don't care how much you invest in another stock, so there is still a practical limit on what you can spend in the portal because you have guys on your roster who you have to make good with, see EJ and Dowdell last season. Even if your total limit is really high, you can't possibly "make good" with everyone if you're overpaying for everyone in the portal even if they're awesome.
But none of that negates that you can still find value buys by being a smart investor at low prices
