I doubt Hudson would care if Markway was in the TE room. Markway has never been the kind of receiver TE Hudson is. Markway is more the classic inline TE. Hudson isn't going to be afraid of any competition from the existing roster.
Yeah but teams play all sorts of stupid head games.

Yeah here is the thing, and you hear this alot when you talk to upper level DCs in the NFL and P5 football, calling a defense a 4 - 3 or a 2 - 5 - 4 anymore is a fool's errand. Really you are just being multiple and trying to confuse the QB on the other team, and the more options you can create out of whatever "formation" you begin with is the name of the game. That is why there are SO many players on defense in the NFL now who are situational defensive players, and this is only growing now in the CFB.

Why this fits with me ARGUING for the 0 - 3 tech is that as long as your are playing run first teams, and you are always going to find those in the B1G, you need to have that big ball buster in the middle, who can turn an offense into a gigantic constipated shit.
the counter to this is that Paul Parker is the premier 4-2-5 base DC in the B1G and has a great defense every year playing tall and athletic DL - 6'5" guys averaging about 260 lbs at the ends and 295lbs at tackle..

What are you exactly arguing with techniques? Are you saying we haven’t played those techs?

I'm saying that as it stands with our roster right now we don't have that correct fit as a 0 - 3 tech guy.

Now Terry who will be a redshirt Freshman this year, and truthfully wasn't a high priority recruit for this staff (he committed to the Fraud), could blow up this year and solve our problems, or Moore could but that seems a bit of a stretch, but in the long run, this staff hasn't gone out and recruited one like it mattered to them seriously, and that isn't just this year.

Parker is his own case, and his defense is hard to play against ..... unless you are Ohio State or Oregon (most of the time). If you have a real strong passing game, his defense loses it's edge. We did that to him in 2022 when we had Casey and Palmer.
Here were Casey's stats in that game: https://cfbstats.com/2022/player/463/1097283/passing/gamelog.html

We've bit our own appendage more times than not playing Cockeye in the last 10 years. Just look at how close the games were and when Cockeye managed to comeback to beat us.

Also note that most of those games we lost were because we couldn't stop some dumbass running play that we shouldn't have such a problem dealing with. In some of those recent games we had substantial leads going into halftime and then proceeded to throw them away. Mostly because our DL tires out, and we can't get a decent run blitz going.

Correct fit at 0-3…you talking body type? What are you referencing here.

Body type is my preferred analysis of why. I am fairly big on Terry because he is a wrestler who knows leverage, has a decent wingspan for a guy who is 6' 2" and can carry the weight without losing a lot of agility.

I've said it a few times, but I think Terry will end up being better version of Nash. He was the most dominant high school player I have ever seen in the two games I saw of his. Granted,.it was just high school, but his performances we Suh-esq. He was in the backfield on literally every single pass attempt and they ran away from his side every time too. Still have a couple sacks and TFLs.

Miami is reloading on the defensive front ahead of the 2026 season.

Prized transfer EDGE Damon Wilson, who totaled nine sacks and 54 quarterback pressures at Missouri in 2025, committed to Miami on Thursday, not long after InsideTheU reported that star defensive tackle Ahmad Moten is expected to return to the program next season.

Now, the Hurricanes have added another veteran to the defensive front. Nebraska's Keona Davis is transferring to Miami, InsideTheU and 247Sports' Matt Zenitz have learned.

The 6-foot-5, 275-pounder was a full-time starter for the Cornhuskers in 2025, totaling 406 snaps across 13 games. Davis adds to an already talented front that should be considered one of the nation's best next season. It will feature Wilson, Moten, Davis, Marquise Lightfoot, Armondo Blount, Third Scroggins, Jarquez Carter, Booker Pickett, and Hayden Lowe in 2026. The group is once again expected to be one of the best in the country.

This past season, Davis totaled 32 tackles, 3.5 coming for a loss, with 1.5 sacks and ten quarterback pressures, per Pro Football Focus.

With two years of eligibility remaining, Davis could be an experienced and versatile defensive lineman who can play multiple spots on the front. Davis played 192 snaps lined up as a defensive tackle, 117 lined up over the offensive tackle, and 87 as a defensive end outside of the tackle.

That flexibility is valued.

Boston College safety Omar Thornton, South Carolina wide receiver Vandrevius Jacobs, West Virginia wide receiver Cam Vaughn, and Georgia offensive lineman Jamal Meriweather are other notable additions to Miami's transfer class.

So you’re saying we don’t have any A gap and B gap DL….

I believe today is the last day for Miami players to go to the portal?

If so not as many have gone in as we were led to believe.

if they file their papers today it could be Wednesday morning before they can be seen in the database (48 business day hours rule)

They have 17 in already

True, but I thought that someone had posted how they were expected lose their starting DL and some other key positions after the National Championship game.

Just to help everyone see where we are on the DL, I have added the TPs to the roster for these positions in the chart below. You will find 4 positions listed: Nose Tackle (really a 0 - 3 tech):NT, Defensive Tackle (3 - 5 tech): DT, Edge ( a 5 - 7 tech usually on the weakside): ED, Joker (a 5 - 9 tech who can also play in short coverage): JK. You will also note a column marked Height/weight ratio; this intended to help you see why a player's size might influence their position. In some positions a large frame and ratio is desirable, as long as the ratio represents lean mass. In others you may be looking for more of a balance between height and weight (lower ratio).
