I like Tim and think he provides great coverage, but if we don't have any DL commits/visits and no coach by this time next week, then Rhule needs to be fined by the University for dereliction of duty.

The transfer portal closes by this time next week. LATE registration for spring semester ends on 1/20 I believe. There's no more fucking time after next week. Next week is all they have left.

If we don't have any progress on the DL by this time next week then you have to ask serious questions about who is leading this program right now.
I agree. He was answering the question about people asking him when they should start to panic about the DL transfers and the DL coach. I think he said the beginning of next week on Schaefer's podcast yesterday.

I like Tim he seems to be more realistic about how things are going than most but is smart enough to sugar coat it a little so it doesn't sound too negative.

I think he's definitely concerned about the DL recruiting and the DL hire.

The time to panic was when A&M hired Robinson and there was no word Nebraska had interviewed anybody else for the job

After watching a couple of podcasts with Tim a few nugs.

He sees Anthony Jones and Tawfiq Thomas as depth guys. Add 1-2 more edge guys, need 2-3 more inside guys.

Coaches have been very active with DL recruiting but for one reason or another it has worked out yet. Everyone is after DTs. Better shape this year without a DL coach with Aurich, Manning, and Simpson helping there.

He thinks they are after another QB, and one if not two more RBs. Which was funny because that was with DB and Ravi.

He really likes the new LBs and the Safety. Probably need one more DB like a Ceyair Wright if possible who can play different spots.

Thinks they are good with the UCLA WR.

1-2 more OL

If we dont see something on DL commits/visits or a coach hire by this time next week then it would be time to start worrying.

Need more elite recruiters on staff.

On the DL coach it doesn't look like they had a plan B ready to go after ERob. Doesn’t see the IWCC coach as a fit for what Rhule wants he's more of a developer vs recruiter it's a big jump from recruiting Juco to P4.

Probably some more but that's what I remember off the top of my head. Also Tim seems to be more open on Schaefers new podcast than with DB and Ravi we'll see if it lasts.
so we appear to be targeting a total of about 20 portal additions

we heard about the Auburn DL coach interview before he stayed with Auburn. Assuming Okam was interviewed because of all the smoke.
could be Okam was interviewed, but there would be smoke even if he wasn't because of Rhule's history with him. I don't think Okam fit the role Rhule is apparently envisioning.

It doesn't bother me one iota. But it is hilarious.

Fills in as DL coach for bowl practices, and all of a sudden we have Backwards Hat Matt. Like, the thing that made him a FOOTBALL coach and not a Head Coach all was found in the turning of a hat.
Didn’t Snow jokingly tell him to turn his hat around and get to work coaching? Pretty sure that’s where it started.

The athletic had a nice breakdown of the percentage of starts by recruited players and portal players for each playoff team. It was wild how dramatically it had flipped from 2024/25 to 25/26.

Last year all 4 teams were heavily relying on recruited players. Nobody had less than 77% of starts by recruits.

This year, only Oregon had more than 50% of starts by recruits (57%). Miami was about 46% and the others about 35%.

This seems like a watershed season for roster construction.

Edit: that should be starts, not snaps in the stats above so I am going to change.
