Yup, myself and many others said… Why? When we brought on Rutgers and Maryland. (also UCLA to a lesser degree) In hindsight, if the ultimate plan is to get to 18-24 teams then you have to bring in a few doormats. And if you can find a doormat with TV viewership value that’s gold.

SEC will definitely have to change their expectations and their MO with regards to coaching hiring and firing. A LOT of top notch programs are gonna have .500 seasons or worse in that conference and you can’t just cherry pick a new coach from another school/conference because you are the “SEC”. Schools are gonna have to retain coaches and can’t just fire someone after 1-2 subpar seasons. May have to stick it out with that coach and hope they can turn it around with the portal and NIL.
