Rhule might get extended at Nebraska because of this at most.

Not saying it’s totally impossible for Rhule to end up at PSU, but it’s gonna coast them a shit load of money to make it happen.

Of course, if both sides want it to happen then that’s all that really matters. They’ll figure out the money one way or another. I was just making the point that if it did happen, it would cost PSU quite a bit more than Rhule’s current $10-15 million buyout.

All good. In your defense, there is an article on spartan site that mentions Franklin if Smith is fired. It claims Smiths seat is hot. But who knows, that could be bogus too

James Franklin is easily safe this year, regardless of how the casual PSU fan feels. He's had 3 consecutive double digit win seasons with 2 playoff wins last year. He has 6.5 years & 50 million left on his contract, & PSU would have to pay that on top of an extraordinary premium they'd have to pay any new coach who'd be a clear upgrade.

IMO, they'd have to keep struggling this year, then have another very mediocre season/multiple bad losses next year before he'd realistically be on the hot seat or have any practical bearing on the coaching carousel.

For the record, I do think this is an absolutely retarded move by PSU unless they've got a clear upgrade already with a deal in place.
