What is with these programs trying to eek out of legally enforceable contracts? LSU trying to not pay Kelly’s full buyout and now this?

I can’t imagine there being anything that stops the agents from telling the school to pound sand.
I think Stoops inked the contract prior to NIL madness so I think it was less UK trying to get out of it and more them hoping to set up a payment structure that isn't as financially strenuous for them, e.g. paying $38 million by Feb 1

Yeah that’s how I read it too.

And what happens if Stoops tells them to fuck off? Its not his fault his former employer signed a terrible contract.

Same thing that happened at LSU probably where they cry and whine, but the contract wins out.

Of course they could take it to court which even if it's a slam dunk for Stoops still costs money so it's probably in his best interest to just let them space out payments.

Wasn’t there reporting that Stoops wouldn’t have gone to UK, but when they approached him he was ok with negotiating it to get out?

If they’ve already made you fabulously wealthy and you’re tired of being embarrassed the football field, it makes sense that you would come to an agreement.

The report was he wouldn't have stepped down on his own, which isn't really a report when you consider he'd be owed like $38 million if they made him leave.

I'd buy he's not too broken up over it given how things were trending.
