It's really going to be a Catch-22 for the lower teams. They are going to be able gain more talented players with the 105 restrictions but then end up eventually losing them all to the portal.

I think Marshall’s deal is a little different. All their players entered the portal because their AD didn’t renew their coach’s contract…or something like that…

So they lost 25 out of 85 on scholarship so they would have 60 scholarship players available to play in the bowl game not including any walk ons. That’s in Marshall backing out imo.

Stupid and naive me thought the portal would primarily be used by underrecruited guys like this who balled out for small schools, and wanted to upgrade to a bigger time school after they proved it on the field.

A lot of the smaller schools dont fill their full 85 scholarship limit. A few years back I know UTEP only had 70 scholarship players.
