They dropped the rebel mascot because it was overtly racist.
They were the black bears for a while then became the land sharks. But they haven’t officially used the shark mascot for a few years.

Disturbing trend. Dana says we’re gonna bring in 20-30 for Evals to get a decent crop. How many have actually made it to campus per our targets? Portal is brutal this time around. Spring gonna be better?

This is correct. I don't know all the specifics, but before their 2nd class year (junior) they sign their oaths and typically go and spend the bonus on a car.

Let's see what they land. Possible the yield is higher than they expected. Possible they won't have as many losses as they expected. Possible everything has gone to shit.

The portal has been open for 6 days and we have 2 commits. I don’t think there is any reason to panic at this point.

With the portal and the overall roster you just have to chill until it closes in April and you see what the roster looks like then heading into the season.
The transfer portal is open for a total of 20 days in the winter, 10 fewer than last year. Players have until Dec. 28, to put their name in the portal. However, they don't have to decide on a new school before the portal closes.
There will also be a 10-day period in the spring for players to enter the portal, down by five from last offseason. That window be from Apr. 16 to Apr. 25.
In total, the two transfer windows are 30 days compared to the 45 from the last cycle.
