Dean says Dowdell could go to Michigan

Dean sez:

About a week ago, everything was all set for running back Dante Dowdell as he was under a new NIL agreement for 2025 that was evidently a significant bump from this past season.

Then, this week, a lot changed. The free market numbers started to get to Dowdell, and the number he was looking for to stay would be top-level market running back money. Evidently, there are teams out there telling him he could get that type of number, which led to today.

The team I've heard some buzz on with Dowdell is Michigan. Watch that closely.

My tin foil hat theory also made me wonder about Kewan Lacy. His entry into the portal caught Missouri off guard just as much as Dowdell's did today. Lacy was the guy they wanted a year ago. But now, throw that out the window, he committed to Ole Miss tonight.

The thing is, you pay a premium for anything you get in the portal. That is what has thrown everything off. If a school has a good team coming back but only needs one or two key positions, they can go all in on the guys they want at those spots. That has made the NIL market much different this year than in the past. More teams have full rev-share money they are working with, plus their collectives. It's a different game now than we've ever seen before.

The next six days are massive for the future of this football team.

Dowdell didn’t get really any tds that most rbs should get. He also missed wide open cuts almost 100% of the time. Satt had a love affair with him, but he wasn’t much more than a healthier Gabe and had zero threat in the passing game.

I’d like him to return, but I don’t think Dana will be fighting to keep him like EJ.
His play where he blasted the cu safety will always win in my heart though.

Fong:

Former Idaho defensive back Andrew Marshall will visit Nebraska this week, arriving Tuesday night a source tells On3.

Marshall entered the Transfer Portal this week and quickly became one of the most coveted targets for Matt Rhule and his staff.

The Huskers will be one to watch moving forward for the 6-foot, 186-pound Marshall who has 66 tackles over the last two seasons to go along with eight pass breakups and a forced fumble.

Marshall is also a big threat in the return game running back a kick and punt for a touchdown during the fall.

What is this “return game” they speak of? Is that bonus points or something?
