I am deeply confused how Georgia gets top 5 recruiting classes every year but chases transfer portal for any position outside of maybe LT and QB. How do you not reload with a roster of all four and five star players?

It’s important to recruit guys that have a clean driving record from the portal to supplement the rest of the roster.

Guys leave Georgia through portal as well. Not all 4 and 5s or 3s for that matter will sit behind guys. Also, our WR recruiting hasn't been good, nor the QB position. So, we have that need and that is the portal focus for Kirby plus a CB. We got Rara (dismissed) and Young ( suspended) last year from portal. So that fucked us. QB, wanting a DT QB, but don't have one ready to play on campus.

I know that they allocated a large amount of money specifically to portal WRs and that he’s visiting this week. I don’t think he’s a silent commit anywhere right now

Pretty wild, but if not for Stetson 21 and 22 would've been cold hard season. Got Jamie Newman out of portal Summer 21. Showed up for a week then left football haha. JT Daniels was supposed to be the starter, but kept getting hurt. Actually, medically cleared but would pull himself out of games and say he was hurt. So Kirby said ftmf and kept going with Stetson. Beck was there, but not throwing balls to the right team in practice. Dwan Mathis was terrible. Had Vandergriff and Gunner. Vandergrif portaled to KY when Beck came back. That left Gunner. Jalen Rashada came in this Spring, but weighs 15 and having a hard time with playbook. Pugs is a true Freshman.

I’m not saying he 100% won’t end up at Georgia but I see no reason why he would silently commit anywhere. There’s no point to a silent commit out of the portal. And why would he still visit Lincoln if he was committed to Georgia? Just doesn’t seem plausible.
