This guy probably watched Barney for a practice and said “oh fuck”
Who was the last good skill position players from Nebraska?
Niles Paul then before that crouch and green?

Let’s probably just stop.

Jaylen Lloyd has been pretty good so far...
Let’s chill on the pretty good so far.
He’s a backup on a team with subpar wr play.
He got 3 big tuddys last year when teams didn’t think there was any chance Nebraska could complete a pass and loaded the box. Miraculously Haarberg completed the yolo bombs.
But he definitely hasnt been good. Good would insinuate he’s at the very least a starter in the team.

Austin Allen and Brandon Reilly quickly come to mind.
I’ll give you Allen and partial credit for Reilly. Only partial for Reilly because he started as a walkon and the walkon program is effectively dead.

But....he was a good skill position player from Nebraska....which is the question you asked....
I should have specified scholarship.
There’s been a couple walkons I’ve like the past couple decades.
But the list of scholarship athletes is depressing.

2024
Nelson - TBD
Hall - gone
McMorris - gone
Kaelin - gone
Ingwerson - here but feels like more of an OL than skill player

2023
Coleman - gone
Lloyd - potential

2021
Carnie - left early

2020
Betts - had potential
Hickman - think he left early but also sucked

2017
Austin Allen - good
Jalylin Bradley - bad

2016
Englehaupt - bad

2012
Sam Cotton - good?

2010
Tyler Evan - may have started on D? LOVED WEED
Bronson Marsh - why did he get a scholly?

2008
Collins Oakafor - bad

2007
Niles Paul - great

2003
Andy birkle

2002
Mark Leflore - ok
David Horne - ok
Matt Herrian - coulda been the best

Eh, you still gotta recruit walk ons to get em here. It may be a slightly different process, but they don't all just come knocking and begging.

I agree it's not been the best list, but I'd bet if you looked at it relative to the rest of the country the percentage of hits wouldn't be that far off from any other state, particularly at WR. I've said it elsewhere before, but I've got a theory that WR is the easiest position to bust at for highly rated guys. It just seems more magnified for local guys because we don't get as many of them to get excited about as Texas or California.

Jordan Westerkamp was pretty good

Maurice Purify was pretty good

Taylor Martinez had a couple pretty good years

Ameer Abdulla was above averafe

Roy Healy Jr. was above average

Rex Burkhead didn’t suck

Kenny Bell had some game

Trey Palmer had it

Mike McNeil had him a year in 2008

Kyler Reed had 10 TDs in 2010 which is a school record…seems pretty solid

I’d argue Tommy Armstrong single handedly won a bunch of games for us…

I mean all those guys came after your two. So, there’s that.

I don’t recall any of them playing HS football in Nebraska.
