Something I think matters here is that the coaches are basically at the end of spring and have had an extended look at the guys we already have in the RB room. If after that they feel comfortable then I trust that evaluation. If they didn't feel comfortable my guess is they would have jumped all over one of the numerous RBs in the portal.
I think it's a combination of what's been discussed. I think they're comfortable that the room won't bring us down, although I don't think they feel they have a superstar currently. And they are playing the feelings game, trying not to piss off the current guys by bringing in another body to compete with, especially when he's not obviously superior to them all.

I think he'd be a great addition, but not if it means losing what we already have.

My hot take is Damon Benning is part of the problem not the solution with Omaha kids.

He has tight relations with a lot of schools and probably knows a lot of the kids one way or another.

Anytime an Omaha kid doesn’t get an offer, Nebraska offers late or leaves the state he tries to underscore an issue. He’ll try to open up wounds and pour salt into them to give him more power to speak on them for views.
I have no idea if there is or isn't but it seems like whenever there is any talk about a rift between NU and Omaha DB is usually the source.
