I do wonder if past portalers are on average more likely to be future portalers. Like some of these dudes are in their 3+ school in as many years. I'm sure the other large chunk is the Boerkircher's who want to get set up with a nice chunk of change in their final season, which is totally fair

I mean, the dude can't make the first man miss to save his life. It's really remarkable.

I just don't think we'll be running the "Please lord let us to eek out 24 pts" offense (also known as the "Satt" offense). I just don't think Dowdell as valuable when you're reliably scoring 30-35 pts.

Dowdell ran for 700 yards and 12 TDs in a struggling offense while splitting time.
As a feature back in a power offense, he can easily be a 1000 yard guy, even without a lot of wiggle, and with ball security issues.
I'd have liked to keep him as a change of pace back, but his value to Nebraska in our new offense isn't likely as great as it is elsewhere. And in the modern CFB world with the 75 year old Connecticut lady at its head, that usually means a transfer.

Yeah, I mean I think Dowdell is a real weapon. His elusiveness is very limited yes, but he’s a power back and there’s always a need for that

He's obviously a productive back, but he's a square peg in a round hole for what Dana wants to do. Obviously you want to keep the talent in the building but Dana's "I like dudes who can make someone miss 1 on 1" was basically a shot across the bow

I just can't get worked up about Dowdell leaving.
When Johnson was in the portal, a lot of people were saying, "He's a mid back. Dime a dozen. Not a big loss."
That's how I feel about Dowdell. He missed the hole half the time and never made a defender miss. Surely we can find another 225 pounder to lower his head and run straight ahead.
