Plus i hear that any weight loss comes back almost immediately after going off the drug.
As is almost always the case when someone "loses weight" by means other than adjusting diet/calories/type of food intake and physical activity level. If the old habits weren't changed, but forced via pharm drugs or surgery, they rarely hold.

Which reminds me of my favorite story involving fats who don't want to be accountable.

Fat Charlie Weis gets lap band surgery but doesn't do any of the prep. Ends up staying as fat as he ever was because it doesn't work, but because true accountability can only ever be had by suing someone, he sues his doctors for it not working because he didn't do what he was supposed to.

Anywho, they had to call a mistrial because the doctors saved a jurors life

Fat Charlie not following dietary/lifestyle changes is no surprise....

No idea how someone can live happily being many hundreds of lbs overweight.

Agree. Genuinely feel sorry for people who are predisposed to weight gain. The Quality of Life must be terrible. All I can figure out is (excessively obese) folks must have forgot what real life is like. My future MIL is a case study lol. Everything is hard. Getting out of vehicles, walking up porch steps, I have to imagine going to the bathroom is a battle. Things like hikes in nature and bike rides are definitely out of question. I would miss outdoors stuff the worst (that and multiple sex positions lol). The only exercise she is able to do is A: go to town and rack up cc debt and B: reps with sugary Starbucks drinks. Side bar: How was my beautiful, fit, intelligent fiancee birthed from literal mouth breathing ogres? Don't bother answering that lol.

Having been in the nutrition and health business for 18 years in the past, it astounds me how many fats we have in this country. Really, all it takes is some self discipline for most. I get that it is tougher for some, but overall, most people simply eat like shit. Not only shitty food (processed, sugary, etc), but FAR too much of it.

I am lucky in that I have never had a weight problem. 5'-11" and between 165 and 175 my entire adult life. So type of body style does matter in the scenario.

But I still see so many simply obese people, it is mind numbing. You can see the problems it is causing them, even the younger ones. And yes, there are people like your fiance you are fit and trim, with a mother/father who are the exact opposite. Some people will just have a harder time getting fat even if not taking care of themselves, but the biggest variable is eating fairly healthy and keeping daily cals in a reasonable zone. And stay physically active. That doesn't mean having to hit the gym 5 days a week, or spending an hour on the treadmill, but it does mean using your body. Our bodies are biological machines, and need honing and upkeep and to not be fed crappy fuel. For most of us, if we stay reasonably active and eat reasonably healthy, our bodies will last a damn long time.

It's not bad. Be different if I was single.

I doubt you are obese, though. Many are somewhat overweight. There's a difference between that and obese. I could never be happy being obese. Don't ever plan on letting myself get fat. But maybe that will change as I get older (doubt it).
