He's safe for 2026 but I'd bet my Utah winnings from today that he's not the coach in 2027.

My expectations for 2025 were to (1) improve YoY (2) not have embarrassing losses (3) punch above our weight for once for a win.

Did we improve? On special teams we did. On Offense we were inept once again in B10 play. Defensively it was a big step back.
Did we avoid embarrassing losses? No- Minnesota, Penn State, Cockeye, and Utah.
Did we punch above our weight? No - we are incapable of stepping up in big games. IDGAF about "close" losses. A loss is a loss. Scott Frost was capable of losing close.

Rhule is a nice guy and has great communication skills but he's in over his head here. There is no foundation he's built in three years. It's another offseason of hitting up the transfer portal for one year mercenaries. This is not how you build a program.

This thing is cooked.
Lots of successful teams have good years with one year mercenaries….

And if they have a solid foundation, they maintain that success.

The portal is meant to augment your roster, not be its foundation for success as you still need to recruit and develop talent. See Michigan State and FSU for reference (and Nebraska, we've been dogshit since the portal was enacted).

Hope there’s 30…. Corey Campbell seems to have made our players slower…..
S&C coordinators are dependent on what the HC says.

We looked slow and weak, but you adjust. The HC has adjusted in some things; no doubt that is something you ask to get right.

Speed can’t be taught. Execution at that speed has to be taught and schemed and Rhule has done that with some of the recent changes.

Ferentz earned his time. Improved a little bit each year until he went 11-2 and finished in the top 10 his 4th year. Rhule is not Ferentz, giving coaches more time is not going to magically make them successful. No one is asking for a Cignetti year 1 turnaround, but if this program was going in the right direction it’d be obvious at this point at the end of year 3.

We're going into year 4 with as many questions as year 1. We reset yearly because Rhule does not know what he's doing.

Was getting blown out by Minnesota, Cockeye, and Utah meeting year 3 expectations for you?

That and if you want to measure him against "a Ferentz' we are due for 11 wins next season, as Kirk did in year 4.
Every program resets eventually.

Rhuke does it at his level as opposed to the President and AD.

New coach is not the answer now nor next year.

Money and playing time aside from what you mentioned. Coaching not great everything else mostly first class except recruiting location.

Re-bolded - it’s not an I think - Dean literally said as much on their pod this week. NU jumped Minnesota and Illinois for this slot because of the butts in fannies aspect. We should’ve been playing New Mexico on Saturday with Minnesota or Illinois here based purely on results.
That's a fair point, but we're still not close to where we all figured or believed this team would be this year. We can only throw so many false excuses as to why we're still so far off of where we should be. FFS we're a blue blood program, right?

You didn't answer if he met your expectations for his year 3.

Even for the low expectations he's been granted considering the money he makes, he's not meeting them. If you want a 7 win team, we could have paid a coach half his salary. The investment is not paying off.

No one expects him to be Cignetti, but if I told you in 2022 that we still would not have beaten a ranked team in 2025, would you be cool with that?
