Some schools are more willing to overpay than Nebraska. Tech is one of those but there are others and a chunk of them made the playoff this year

Even on the qualitative side, its not like we've had a first round pick in the last decade. Nebraska has more money than Cockeye and 2 starters on their roster have turned down more money at Nebraska for the reasons you're describing

Tech overpaying carries water. I don’t believe their ability to cut a check with in 24 hrs does that much. These kids already have hundreds of thousands of dollars. Their agents and parents with guide them to the place that offers the most money and the best opportunity to make the playoffs and NFL.

TT is just one example. OSU, Indiana, Ole Miss, Oregon etc… we’re all super active and successful in the portal and none of those schools were front loading cash within 24 hrs of signing.

It’s not as apples to apples. They’re essentially doorbusting NIL

TT: hey, transfer- here is your offer that is 125% the next highest. Sign by noon and you’ll get half of it by 6pm. Offer is effective today only.

Blue Chip GM: - yeah our system is such an albatross that we can’t make that happen and we have processes we can’t deviate from. Best we can do is advance your first three of 26 payments by friday and consider matching but you have to give us 48 hours to consult key decision makers

These kids have some money but they don’t have experience with it. That’s not only a pretty sensible way to approach it but also extremely enticing

Friend. Don’t be so hung up on TT. I used them as one example. But they are only 1 school that operates the way they do. We’re not always competing directly against TT, mostly not. If we both need an OT there are plenty of good OTs in the portal. TT can only take one, if we have the money to compete we should be getting one of the top OTs.

TT does what they do for because… A. They can, they have the means. And B. They have to overpay being part of the BigXII. Everyone knows the BigXII is long shot to produce a NC and has a lower rate of NFL draft picks. TT is overpaying because that’s what they have to do and because they are one of the few BigXII schools that actually can.

Once again. Let it go with regards to TT. The are only 1 school, what they do and how they do it has almost nothing to do with Nebraska. I wish I would’ve never used them as an example cause some of you have completely lost the point. If Rhule really has the resources to compete with the big boys financially, then we should be able to retool our roster through the portal. TT isn’t doing anything to stop us. There will be plenty enough of good players in the portal if we have the money. We don’t need to do it like TT, we don’t even necessarily need to be competing against TT directly. Likewise, nobody else really does it like they do. Don’t get hung up on them, you’re losing site of the forest through the trees.

Yeah, I just had to put my own cynical spin on it. In reality neither of these things are happening unfortunately. 😒
