Not really fair to punish them for losing to a better team, but a 13th game is an additional pull at the lever to improve your seeding with the downside risk of looking shitty and getting left out.They both played 12 games. They're both in the same conference. Texas non conference loss was better than Alabamas non conference loss. Texas had an extra loss in conference play.
At the end of the regular season the playoff committee said Alabama was better than Texas. 9 vs 13. Alabama plays another game and loses to the best team in the conference. Texas watches.
Regardless of your opinion makes no sense for the playoff committee to flip flop them.
