Low risk, high reward.

You sign them to keep the instate connections going by saying we still recruit Nebraska kids. Then after a year or two of not working out if they don't work out, we can cut them because 'hey, we need to win by having players step up.' If they do work out, great, you have a good roster player from the state of Nebraska.

I get it. I should have asked, what was the point in signing him specifically. Probably should take a flyer on a Millard South kid if we're hoping for an old school walk on situation.

His brother is going to Cockeye and his dad I believe is a Hawkeye fan. Also would have a good chance to get drafted. This has been a rumor for awhile that he may leave for Cockeye.
