Outside of special teams, tell me one thing

If anything, Dana has been the most disappointing coach to me, considering the talent and experience on that side of the ball. But for some reason he gets a pass because people predetermined that he’s good.
There’s a lot of confirmation bias with Dana. If he had a different name, he’d have been a whipping boy all year.

Not saying this staff is amazing or anything, and the lining up in the neutral zone is one thing that is inexcusable. Can’t believe how many times that happened this year.

But I think the losses this season have been more due to nonexistent defensive line recruiting in 2021 and 2022, and playing a bunch of first and second year players on defense, than inept coaching.

Think Dana needs to run what he knows and Rhule needs to let Dana run his own offense. We are still using the majority of Satts playbook.

If that’s the case, it’s kind of on Dana for taking the job under those circumstances. He should leave on his own if he isn’t being allowed to do what he wants.

Maybe you have some inside information, but this feels like what we always say about every facet of Nebraska football - craft some sort of narrative to tell ourselves that the shitty things we see are explainable and really not that shitty after all.

Do some of you remember the Frost era? The coaching is so much better than back then. The discipline is night and day, and we’ve clearly developed some fringe talent into contributing players. Those are signs of good coaching.

We had some positions with subpar talent this year but the team was also really young at certain spots. Pietrzak, Guthrie, Donovan jones, shavers, keona davis, etc all played a ton of snaps on defense in their first or second year as starters. I’m not as critical with the coaching as much as I am experienced players who underperformed like van poppel, Jeudy, Watson-Trent, Buford (although his was mostly due to accumulated injury).

I predicted an 8-4 season and we are 7-5. Not that far off and considering we started our backup true freshman qb for 3 games, it’s really gone as I’ve expected.

So many people on here get their expectations way too high, then when it doesn’t go how they want, they get all emotional and upset and blame it all on certain coaches they have preconceived beliefs on.

Corch Scrote is a pretty low bar but…

Donnie is the run game coordinator. But the offense IMO looks very similar to the last 3 years.

Less Turnovers and fewer penalties suggests a more disciplined football team. I think the way Rhule coaches in practice creates that mentality.

But Rhule needs to reevaluate how he self Scouts while also getting help with game management.
