The fact that you’re even entertaining the idea that Lateef could be on the same level as Dylan tells me you were never a real supporter of Dylan and are not a ball-knower.

I think there's an element of "don't believe your own eyes, trust the experts" happening. It's hard to shake that initial perception you get from the star rankings, the hyped recruitment process, the other offers, etc.. But it's a little weird in this case because it's not like TJ is some walk-on nobody or a transfer portal reject. If Rhule has done his job in recruiting (which I feel he has in this case), there's no reason to think TJ couldn't be just as good if not better.
Who knows? It’s hard to tell how good the kid is when he never gets hit.Would be nice to have the Millard South kid coming into the QB room next year instead of or in addition to Dylan’s little brother
Just adds another wrinkle to what could fairly quickly become a bit of an awkward situation
Why does it matter if you can get a qb in the portal? The two best teams in the BIG have used the portal to find qbs. OSU did it with Howard last year and Indiana has did it the last two years. If we are willing to spend 3 million a year on Raiola, we can get a good transfer if the high school guys don’t work out.I mean, we all understand why we’re only taking 1 QB this class and it’s a kid with no other P4 offers
Same reason we retain the longest tenured OL coach in the B1G to produce neither a draft pick or all-conference selection
According to Nessler/Danielson it's:who is dylans nfl comp? ive been trying to come up with a current qb and its difficult. all of these guys are athletes in the modern league, just not a ton of statues.
Mac Jones?
Until I see Dylan uncork it, he's like Stafford with 60% of the armAccording to Nessler/Danielson it's:

I agree and I would lean toward Lateef staying. He does sound like a big culture guy, etc.Based on his comments and what we've heard on the board about NIL commitment. I don't think he's leaving. Seems like a pretty big culture guy.
My theory on this is people see TJ as a guy who's willing to ball out (and take the consequences of that) and Dylan has turned into a very hesitant, slow processing, ineffective QB. And fans are willing to rock with the ball-out young kid.I think there's an element of "don't believe your own eyes, trust the experts" happening. If Dylan is actually making 3 million a year he isn’t worth it on the field wise. He isn’t a top tier BIG qb.My theory on this is people see TJ as a guy who's willing to ball out (and take the consequences of that) and Dylan has turned into a very hesitant, slow processing, ineffective QB. Look at the trend Dylan was on. He was very likely gonna go 4 of 5 games without hitting 200 passing yards. That's not good. If we had the Dylan from 2024 Illinois 1st half (where he was absolutely balling out) I think more people would be on the Dylan is still #1 train. But we saw some bad, bad, bad, bad offensive football from Dylan. This year. And parts of last year too.
I don't blame fans at all for going "I've seen enough" RE: Dylan. However I think if we let these last 3 games play out the answer will be fairly obvious either way. So I'm not worrying about it.

If he is making 3mil from 1890, we would be better off paying Lateef 1.5M next year and use the other 1.5M to get two other guys plus get a new OL coach. If Dylan is actually making 3 million a year he isn’t worth it on the field wise. He isn’t a top tier BIG qb.
I believe because Raiola's knowledge of the playbook and system, Holgerson tried doing to much because of the knowledge. Where Lateef probably not knowing it as well, we didn't put as much in the game plan allowing all players to just play and not think. I think if they give Raiola the same dumb down plan he would ball out moreMy theory on this is people see TJ as a guy who's willing to ball out (and take the consequences of that) and Dylan has turned into a very hesitant, slow processing, ineffective QB. The next two games will tell us a lot. PSU and Cockeye are both quality defenses and have film on Lateef. If he plays well win or lose it’s an easy decision if you can get Lateef at a much cheaper price.I bele

Definitely. If anything, Raiola is too smart and Holgorsen is holding him back (and the OL and the receivers). That would explain why he holds on to the ball too long and takes unnecessary sacks all the time. If Holgs calls a dumbed down game plan, the OL gives him a clean pocket and 6 seconds to throw, Raiola could ball out like Lateef, who is clearly inferior.I bele

Piggybacking on that, maybe the offense is just too complex at the moment because Rhule wants an NFL offense and it’s become information overload for Dylan and there’s just too much going on in his headI think the thing DR has holding him back is trust. I’m unclear if it’s trust in his WRs, what he's reading the defense is doing, or his own ability to fit the ball in, but I think a major factor behind the excessive pressures and sacks is he’s not throwing the ball when he should. I believe he’s making the right presnap reads leading to the right progressions, but the ball isn’t coming out because of one of those reasons above.
