Maybe some of us just want to see how TJ plays when we can’t run the ball. Which may happen against both pedo and Cockeye. Most QBs look pretty good when you’re running the ball for 6-7 yds a carry. I want to see how he plays when we’re averaging 2 yds a carry.

I’ve seen enough to say it’s possible he could be better. I haven’t seen enough to say he definitively is.

Disclaimer: I’d be perfectly fine with us never averaging 2-3 yds a carry again. But we all know that’s not gonna happen in today CFB and B1G.

Just adds another wrinkle to what could fairly quickly become a bit of an awkward situation

Who knows? It’s hard to tell how good the kid is when he never gets hit.

Same reason we retain the longest tenured OL coach in the B1G to produce neither a draft pick or all-conference selection

Why does it matter if you can get a qb in the portal? The two best teams in the BIG have used the portal to find qbs. OSU did it with Howard last year and Indiana has did it the last two years. If we are willing to spend 3 million a year on Raiola, we can get a good transfer if the high school guys don’t work out.

I agree and I would lean toward Lateef staying. He does sound like a big culture guy, etc.

The single transfer portal window REALLY helps here. Bc many have started the offseason as 'big culture guys' but they get worn down by the big $$$ sales pitches and the promises of playing time in the offseason.

IIRC we just have to make it through the January portal window with Lateef and then he's stuck here for 2026? It used to be a free for all w a Dec/Mar/June portal window IIRC

My theory on this is people see TJ as a guy who's willing to ball out (and take the consequences of that) and Dylan has turned into a very hesitant, slow processing, ineffective QB. And fans are willing to rock with the ball-out young kid.

Look at the trend Dylan was on. He was very likely gonna go 4 of 5 games without hitting 200 passing yards. That's not good. If we had the Dylan from 2024 Illinois 1st half (where he was absolutely balling out) I think more people would be on the Dylan is still #1 train. But we saw some bad, bad, bad, bad offensive football from Dylan. This year. And parts of last year too.

I don't blame fans at all for going "I've seen enough" RE: Dylan. However I think if we let these last 3 games play out the answer will be fairly obvious either way. So I'm not worrying about it.

If Dylan is actually making 3 million a year he isn’t worth it on the field wise. He isn’t a top tier BIG qb.
