I think we need to take a moment and discuss this he position this sumbitch has put himself in… Can you imagine the likes of that will come calling… PSU? Florida? Florida St? Clemson? Oklahoma? Michigan? Alabama? LSU? Texas? Arkansas/Wisconsin/Okie Lite/UCLA? (lol yeah right 🤣)

I know some of these are long shots. But Franklin being fired was a long shot 2 weeks ago. Plus we know PSU/Florida/FSU are pretty much locks. One or more of them will pull a coach from another major P4 program and start some dominoes.

Long story short… Curt Cignetti is about to write his own check. He will probably have 4-6 major programs competing for his services. 💵💰💵💰💵

How many of those 4-6 programs have billionaires like mark cuban and tom Wagner writing checks to the athletic departments.
The Cuban thing is a little overblown I think. He had never donated to IU athletics before making a 1 time donation for a “large amount “. I don’t think that means he’s going to fund there entire NIL a la Knight with Oregon.

IDK Scott, but it doesn’t necessarily require one billionaire (or mega billionaire) to get the job done. Also there are 900 billionaires in the United States and most of us can only name a few/handful of them. Nevertheless, you don’t necessarily need any billionaires to secure a coaching contract for 10–15 million a year.

Cignetti has the potential to double or maybe even triple his current salary. And he’s gonna take that opportunity 100%. Whether that means he stays at IU or ends up somewhere else it’s a pretty amazing position he’s worked himself into. Interesting to see what happens.

But if it’s an Indiana or the field type of bet. I’m taking the field.

it's crazy that he's basically the hottest coaching candidate in the last 20 years, and when he was hired no one even gave it much thought.

if he was 10 years younger schools would be throwing obscene amounts of money at him

When some of these schools show him the facilities and support he will have at the likes of Penn St, Florida or Florida st and triple his salary… I don’t know how Indiana keeps him. Yeah they can probably find a way to match about any offer money wise. (it will be $teep) But they’ll never be able to match what those schools offer from a support standpoint, recruiting, facilities and other perks.

When you work for DuckDuckGo and Google asks you to be their new CEO, you’d have to be a gawd damn fool to say no.

I don't think it will take triple his salary. he signed an extension after last year that pays him $9 million/year

I didn’t realize he was already making 9 million. Yeah, he’ll probably be looking at something around 12-15 million. I thought he was making about 5 mil right now.

I’d like see his agents face when Wisconsin calls… “Hey Curt, I got Wisconsin on line one and Kansas St on line two. So what exactly do you want me to tell them?”

Wisconin is going to be forced to hire such a hilariously shitty coach. They were 2nd or 3rd in line last time. They may be the 10th best opening by the time the dust settle this year.

Would it be best to keep 2ndchoice through this season due to the amount of openings and then if next year starts rough can him with less major openings?

Sounds like a good enough strategy until next years coaching carousel is just as crazy or worse 🤣 Wisconsin is so fucked 😏

From what I saw, he’s under Rhule at 8.3, but it was a 4m pay raise from 2024. I think he can get another 4m and put his salary up there with Kirby. I’m not sure Indiana would guarantee that money for football.

Think Matt Patricia would try head coaching again? He was an epic failure at the Lions but that doesn’t mean he will fail as a coach in college
