2026 FB Coaching Carousel

Ah ok, that makes some sense.

I think Leipold is happy at KU. I hope he has. I have adopted them as my 2nd team. Mostly because my wife is an alum there and their proximity to me and their hatred for Kansas State.
They're set up really well. Expectations are manageable. You can recruit most of the area between the coasts. Donor support is fantastic.

He's in statue territory there imo

His schtick doesn't work anywhere. But it does produce wins at a surprising rate.
He's a good, maybe great football coach. Just also happens to be a huge spazz

And his schtick has actually been pretty successful here. Its a bad brand in a pretty competitive sports market. Before he arrived wisconsin had more market share in msp and ndsu was a really close third

I’ve been surprised at how many wins he racks up.

Fleckerhead surprises me most years.

He and Rhule seem to be pretty similar in a lot of ways with culture building, desiring physicality in their teams, demanding a shit ton from their players and assistants and using some rah rah motivation. It also bleeds into both of them wanting to be very public facing.

Fleck is just the cringier version that lacks self awareness at times. Apparently even the cringy version has some effectiveness.

There is a salesman aspect to the role now that makes their relative styles successful at this level, but you’re spot on about Fleckerhead being cringy.

Even at his most over the top, Rhule typically comes of as pretty genuine. Fleck always seems to be overacting in a bad B rate movie about football.

Edit: The first time I saw him first hand was with my youngest son in 2018. Frost’s first win and one and only win against Minnesota. Fleck is running up and down the sidelines like a retard on meth and my kid says ‘Who’s the ketchup and mustard colored moron?'

I snorted a little, but it was hilarious.

When i was a grad student at **** I watched fleck sprint up the middle of the student section during warmups into the concourse to get a hot dog

Why is Franklin leaving Penn state for Florida? Dude has been to the playoffs & probably will get a raise if they make it back again this year. He can’t win the big game but they aren’t going to fire him when he’s doing better than joepa & O’Brien

I’d say Rhule leaving for Florida is more likely but slim

Florida is gonna throw a lot money at someone. And I’m not sure they know who that’s gonna be yet. (just a gut impression) But they aren’t gonna fuck around money wise after 2 quick failures.

If they could poach a guy like Matt Campbell, I think that is a home run for em. He can scout & develop & I he’d cost much less of a buyout as a guy like cignetti/franklin/rhule(don’t think they got a shot at any of those guys). Probably a couple other big 12 guys that’d be safe bets for em

I don't know that Campbell should leave his pretty sweet gig. I say this believing that ISUs financials are not unique to this current era and that most schools just haven't been as transparent about it. There are definitely challenges for him there but he wins and puts dudes in the NFL and has a shot at the playoffs.
