Raiola played well. The advanced statistics back it up in addition to the eyeball test.

I was disappointed we didn’t play with more tempo. There was a period I think in 2nd quarter where we actually went no huddle for a little bit and it was the best we looked. Playing slow doesn’t really mesh with Holgerson’s offense imo. I know Rhule was most likely trying to protect his defense.

I think Raiola needs to take more chances. I'm glad we won and his failure was on checking down too often as opposed to the alternative.

He is going to have to take more chances if we're going to win more than 8 games.

I think the biggest difference between last year and this year (based on 1 game *) is he has receivers that will win one on one matchups. He needs to gain confidence in them to do so.
Need more YOLO bombs ASAP.

After watching a few games and lots of highlights from the weekend I have to say that Dylan looked like one of the most comfortable QBs out of lots of them. Nebraska in general looked more organized than a bunch of teams.

QBs that impressed me were....

Raiola Nebraska
Nussmeir LSU
Underwood Mich
The Utah QB
Castellanos FSU

Guys that looked underwhelming....

Manning TexAss
Klubnik Clemson (dude looks small)
Grankowski Io_a (LoL is probably not a Big 10 QB looool)

Simpson at Alabama looked really good at times then not so good. Kid has talent for sure.

You mean the near pick 6 was ELITE processing? The play where if he throws the damn ball on time instead double clutching its a first down for Key? He’s ELITE this man says all hail our man of cover 3

Yes, it is very common that the best QBs in the world have 1-3 turnover worthy plays per game.

I wish he bangs this to either EJ or Key right away, but he is still a Sophomore QB.

Near pick 6's are like a HR that goes foul......a long strike.

Wait. On 42 pass attempts, he has one bad decision and suddenly he's trash? I agree it was a poor play, but the other 41 attempts were just fine overall.
He really had 2 plays off the top of my head that I think he wishes he had back that were almost TO's

That pass we were talking about.....The strip sack. We went empty, they had a 6 man front and to me Dylan needs to have us in a better play and get rid of the ball right away vs scrambling. I would be curious what @slattimer thought of this....

Re: run game. Damon Benning said EJ missed more than a couple holes and the tackle play and perimeter blocking was bad. Sooo, that’s a bad combination.
Yeah I could be missing DB on this....but to me EJ had a "B" game and DB is looking at what it takes for it to be an A+ game...

I am fine with the game from EJ....what I think happened was he started getting gassed....We really need to find out what we got in Nelson and Mooze the next 2 games.

Disagree about 1 good player. Their linebackers are legit.

In fact, WLB Jake Golday was all over the field with 12 tackles, 1 sack and 2 tackles for loss. That dude is also 6'4 245, and is excellent in coverage. He's absolutely going to get drafted.

After rewatch, it was fairly obvious my eyes didnt deceive me in the Stadium. The Bearcats seemed prepared for outside zone nearly every single time it was run. Their safeties were crashing down making it almost impossible to seal the edge. Holgersen coached against them in 2022 and 23. I wonder if they saw that exact same formation and play a few dozen times back then and were prepared. They really were ready for it when Mozee was in the game.
I felt like Dana needed to have something to take advantage of how their safeties were getting down in the run game. They had that RPO that went to Hunter on the fade early, but wanted to see more.

Here's a really remarkable stat:

Raiola was 13 of 14 passing in the 4th quarter, included 12 straight to finish the game.

Here's a terrible stat:

The Huskers rushed for 6 total yards after Cincinnati scored to make it a 3 point game.
Yeah I just don't think EJ is a 32 touch a game guy
