Nebraska is off to a hot start in the 2027 recruiting class. There are just two commits in the fold right now but it’s hard to imagine a better start to the class for coach
Matt Rhule and company. The class kicked off with the Huskers landing four-star quarterback
Trae Taylor over
LSU,
Texas A&M and
Illinois. Taylor has been a relentless peer recruiter for the program.
“I am excited to recruit for Nebraska because it is a great place to be at,” Taylor said. “In my opinion there is no better place. And what they (other recruits) will get to experience is one of the best game day environments in the world.”
Taylor knows that for the program to take another step to recruit against the nation’s best the program will have to show it on the field.
I am ready to prove everyone wrong and the only way to do that is WIN”
Joining Taylor in the 2027 class is the No. 23 overall prospect in the Rivals Industry Rankings, an equally weighted formula that utilizes the three major recruiting services,
Tory Pittman. The
Omaha Central native was a big-time get for Rhule and gives the program a peer recruiter on the defensive side of the ball.
The pair has a list of blue-chippers to go after.
Nebraska 2027 targets
There is a strong group of blue-chippers that Taylor and Pittman have their sights on. Rivals’ No. 2 tight end
Ahmad Hudsonplayed 7-on-7 with Taylor in Lincoln and the two have built a strong bond. Taylor would love to throw jump balls to him in Memorial Stadium. South Dakota native
Cooper Terwilliger is another pass catcher to watch for Nebraska.
Nebraska has quietly been in the mix for the nation’s No. 1 prospect in the Rivals Industry Rankings,
Kennedy Brown. It’s an uphill battle but Nebraska is among the top group. The Huskers are also among the standout programs for big-time offensive tackle
Mark Matthews. Rivals’ No. 10 player
Albert Simeon is also someone that has been prioritized by Nebraska. Keep an eye on Illinois native
Mason Halliman as an offensive tackle target, too.
On the defensive side of the ball
KJ Greenhas emerged as a clear target for Nebraska. He’s been hearing a lot more from Taylor recently. The nation’s No. 10 edge rusher is from Georgia and that’s an area Nebraska is taking big swings in. California native
JuJu Johnson has heard consistently from defensive backs coach
Addison Williams, too.
Look for Nebraska to have the Sept. 20 matchup with
Michigan circled as a big recruiting weekend. There is a lot of buzz surrounding the program right now and another step or two forward on the field could yield big results with Taylor and Pittman leading the way.
