Among dudes with eligibility so not Allick, Tominaga, and Boogie Coleman (lol). These are my Not N power rankings aka the ordering in terms of likelihood of not being with the program

1. Keita
2. Lloyd
3. Wilcher
4. Diop
5. Everyone else.

I think uhlis wouldn't have gutted our this year of practice if he was done and the remaining dudes are either not walking today or have clearly defined roles next year.

This is also based on nothing but my watching of games and paying attention to roster turnover

I am so curious to see the makeup of next year’s roster… if they can keep Wilcher as 6th man it will go a long long way towards making the tournament and retaining the culture

They’ll need a PG, 2 shooters, a forward and big guy from the portal. They don’t have *that* many spots available currently. It’s going to be a pretty fascinating situation to watch unfold

Flip Lloyd and Keita and I agree. Although I'm only confident in saying Lloyd is gone. The rest I think are decent chances to stay. Only thing with Keita is if he can get healthy finally.

Yeah it'd be great to get Wilcher back

I feel good about where they're at with ball handlers actually. I'm higher of Lawrence than most and he's flashed at times that suggest he has a couple levels he can go up realistically.

Uhlis as a back up is a nice dude to have too. Plus Williams and Mast initiate the offense quite a bit as well so that's comfortably 4 guys you feel good about running stuff through.

They've got Janowksi coming in who will take some % of what were Kesei's minutes as a dude who is just brought in to shoot.

The front court is the most fascinating to me. Mast/Gary is a good start but they need Diop/Keita/transfer to really show up as a front line option. The concern with going more traditional with a big is that it will gum up the works on what's really worked for them on offense which is going 5 out. Diop looked ok as a passer early but he can't shoot 3s like Mast and I don't think he can put the ball on the deck and get to the rim like Mast/Walker before him so this looks like a spot where Fred can really go find a transfer who fits their identity.

At the same time though, they have to be able to rebound and protect the rim. They're actually a pretty good defensive rebounding team this year but a naive look at their blocking stats suggests there's lots of work to be done in rim protection so I'm not sure that they'll completely forgo traditional bigs

Yeah I was torn at the top, but I can see it that way. Keita just seems like a liability to me and I don't know that it makes sense to carry him on scholarship for another year knowing it's most likely going to be injury plagued

The injury stuff is certainly the worry. I think with the potential he's shown as a rebounder and defender on a team that needs that down low, you hold out as long as you can with him unless a homerun transfer comes in there. Same for Diop.

Yeah I think they probably want someone on the roster to play that role.

I am loving what Lawrence is growing into.. his development has been awesome

I have no idea what Ulis’ status will be… my post presumed he isn’t part of the team next year. If he is, then obviously that’s huge and changes things a bit. Almost viewing him as a “portal” add if they do get him next year given he didn’t play at all this year

They need to get a bit more athletic across the board… they really struggle defending and rebounding against athletic teams which is why we can get blown out against a Maryland or someone similar that ramps up the tempo. This is critically important given Mast’s defensive limitations.. being able to play him with another athletic big or larger forward that can guard a longer post player would do wonders for us

I am nervous about shooting next year… but there are guys out there that can help in that regard. Thats actually probably the least urgent of all concerns for next year IMO.

As an aside- can you even imagine how good this year’s team would’ve looked with Sallis on it too? Good Lord what a blown opportunity

Yeah add Sallis to this team, and we’re a top 10-15 team. Insane to think about considering it should’ve happened twice..

Need an athletic big (or two) and an athletic wing defender type if we want to be able to compete at the higher ends of CBB/outside the B1G regularly

Also just need to get bigger and tougher. Love Kesei, Sam H, Wilcher, etc but none of these guys are physically imposing. Need some length and strength on the perimeter and guys that are willing to put their ass into someone to block out and be physical on defense against cutters, etc

Mast and Allick are also soft in the trenches. Limited rebounding skill and absolutely no shot-blocking ability. We need a 4 that puts the power back in power forward.

I’m not going to overreact to one game and say wholesale changes are needed. The fact of the matter is basically nobody expected this team to make the tournament. It’s kind of a victim of its own success right now when listening to some people. I’m certainly disappointed because I really do believe that this team deserved better than getting beat by a team that has the best shooting night it’s had in 2 years time and that being the sole reason they lose.

Having said that, if you could add a 6ft8-10 guy who can match up physically with big ten 4 men you’ll be in great shape for 24-25. This team lacked a physical presence in that spot and we need that guy to have a bit of an attitude as well. I’d like an enforcer that is going to ensure other teams can’t grab our shooters off the ball.

Yup- in an ideal world Mast is the “second” big next to a bigger longer athletic center. It’s kind of what they tried to do pairing him with Allick but Allick is just extremely limited

You need versatility. They put together a nice roster this year but obviously A&M exploited it. Shit happens, but it'd be nice to add a bigger wing so you're less vulnerable defensively and then someone in the spot Keita should have had, whether that's him, Diop, or player to be named later
