Special Teams Coach Hot Board

Gives me Venables vibes. Love the energy, just don't know if that fully translates as a Head Man, but you never know.
Venables is a bit more well accomplished head coach.

but similar vibes. And he has a heavy hand in the D.

Probably fairly similar to Ed O as well.

Be an interesting case study.

Tim V:

"Smoke is real on the USC end in the sense that he’s very desired there, but it’s a very fluid situation and Nebraska of course wants to keep him around."

Will not be surprised if he has a medical episode on the field someday. Reminds me of Pelini.
I have my doubts about him, but you know he will always produce a solid defense which gives you a chance. Either way if he gets fired 50 teams will want to him at DC.

Regardless of whether Ek is just a transient, the fact is that he is was one of Rhule’s few food hires. Absolutely zero confidence he can be competently replaced.

As someone else said, the specials improvement covered up some of the regression everywhere else.

Gonna be a long 26.
Ed Foley was another of Rhule's food hires

Would suck to be wrong with this... Took a pay cut to come here, now he's getting it back. Excited for 2026 with him.

Eck was in his last year with the Vols at $575,000 for the 2024-2025 season. It was his second consecutive 1-year contract. There were reports Huepel wanted to retain him after last season but IIRC, no new salary amount was ever put out to the public. Or speculated by their media. (Over a year ago so I could be wrong on a higher salary)

Nebraska pays Eck $625,000.

Sorry, thought I remembered people saying he took a pay cut to come here and be closer to home?

Just trying to go glass is half full here. Because losing Ek would be not good.
