I agree with most of this post, except the David Bailey portion - he was most definitely a hot commodity (top 15 player in the portal). He entered in the Spring, IIRC.

Yeah because when Tony White and Pot Roast left last year for FSU they took ... *checks notes* ... the absolute stud duo of Stefon Thompson and James Williams.
There's just no guarantee it plays out like that.
Unfortunately the same thing that happened last year.
Nobody from Nebraska outside of Princewill last year was worth taking
Yes our boosters and compliance never learn and are way behind the cutting edge schools. Then put it out there our boosters don’t want to give or are broke. Then the poorest state in the nation with two D-1 football program pays their starting DL $5mm a year.
LB room was so bad I actually wish we could’ve held on to Thompson which is incredibly sad.
We'll have to see how it ends up. But one day I would like to feel like they are playing chess not checkers.

Played a ton as a young player out of position with a poor coach. Nebraska invested a lot of playtime into a guy who will likely play his best ball elsewhere. Feels like another Princewill.

I will say I am surprised by the amount of overall discontent with our portal so far.
I’m sure a lot of it has to do with lots of commits announcing today, but there’s still a long ways to go.
Get a few more commits announced for us and I’m thinking it’ll die down a bit.
Yeah I don't know if you guys saw it but while Cignetti was prepping for Oregon yesterday they had 13 portal guys visiting.
Other than Keona i dont think anyone will be upset with the departures.
Not even getting a visit out of our new DCs former DL studs is a abject failure though. Huge position of need and couldnt get a visit
I’m disappointed in what appears to me as Nebraska either A) refusing to play the game or B) not able to play the game properly when it comes to player acquisition over the past few years, not just this current.
Nebraska calls itself a blue blood, says they have the best fan base in America and acquires talent at a Kansas St level.
The excuse of “well they have more money” or “well they are the hot team right now” shouldn’t be acceptable. Does Nebraska want to compete or not? You can not compete with this type of talent acquisiton.
Seems to me Nebraska is stuck between wanting to be Cockeye or Texas Tech and isn’t good at either
