Sipple however is friends with Dom (not friends just close reporter/source relationship) and Sipple doesn't want to go on video badmouthing Dylan.

This is hilarious and also maddening. You really shouldn't call yourself a reporter if you can't speak freely about a topic. This reminds me of when Sipple wouldn't say anything bad about Scott Frost during the Frost tenure. Now he's Mr Tough Guy vs Matt Rhule.


 
Sipple is a worthless hack. Why anyone pays him a salary is beyond me. Dean isn’t much better.

Maybe Dylan will issue a statement after he’s picked up by another school. If so, great. If no statement ever, to me it’s a character issue or lack thereof.

He was also caught completely off guard on his radio show that we seemed to be getting Minchey (even though the report came from a coworker).
 
This has always been a problem in general with NE's media. It's more important to them to buddy up to the program and/or don't rock the boat to maintain access. Nebraska and NU football is a fish bowl and the only game in town to cover so you have to be in the program's good graces.

This is also reflective of what has become of CFB sports media - it's shift to recruiting sites has placed a bunch of fan boys in the room.

I don’t hate them, but I definitely don’t listen to them unless I’m listening to KFAB when Callahan does his little talk with Rose.

That's one of the problems I have with our media, and also why I think podcasts or even message boards like this are growing the past 5-10 years, because the news and tone you got changed depending on who the coach was and who was covering them.

I don't really care Dylan hasn't given a thank you post or whatever, I think it's fucking weird he hasn't with how active he is on social media, but whatever from me. But the fact our media can't even say that much because they're friends with someone is crazy.
 
most of these local guys just aren’t journalists, despite how they attempt to present themselves.

Compare the national guys, like the writers at the Athletic. They cultivate sources who will give them information because they trust them to be professional with it. They don’t view those relationships as friendships.

And to the extent that they have friendships with people in college football, those people know the reporter will from time to time write things that aren’t favorable to them (i.e. hot seat stories) because both sides understand that professionals have to do their jobs.

There is no such mutual respect with the local guys.

People have many times pointed out how Rhule’s info gets out through Thamel. There’s trust there but Thamel will also happily write a story that NU is gathering money for Rhule’s buyout if that day comes. They both understand what each other’s jobs entail.

Rhule is never going to have a relationship like that with a clown like Sipple.

I don’t get how he’s not speaking freely? He says he doesn’t judge people based on their social media and doesn’t really care if someone puts out a statement. I think that’s a bad take, but it’s his take. As long as he’s been and continues to be consistent about that then I’ve got no qualms.
 
It’ll be interesting if we ever hear the real story of what happened.
Raiolas feel massively slighted by Nebraska.
Seems as if they felt Nebraska should give them the world simply by Dylan gracing Nebraska with his presence.

The lack of info about Dylan in the portal feels like maybe they aren’t getting what they want right now from other teams

Fwiw I think they had a legitimate beef with the quality of coaching Dylan (and Lateef) were receiving iwbhwo hth gbr
