Minchey

Hmmm...

He must not have seen our Vegas Bowl game performance. If you saw that, you'd know we have the worst head coach, worst assistant coaches, worst roster and worst program in college football.

Make sure he doesn't see that game video! He won't commit to Nebraska if he sees that. Good players don't transfer to teams that lost their bowl game.
And every player should go into the portal except Andrew Marshall.

We are not the worst. I still think we are a better program than Akron. We even beat them this year!

Yep. Our roster should have 1 player on it right now: Marshall. And the incoming 2026 HS guys.

We should have zero coaches too. Those all need to be replaced.

When you lose a bowl game, the whole program needs to be razed and rebuilt.
Have a few failures, then proceed to blow everything up all the time, immediately and everything will be better.

Or maybe have a strategy to keep the best components and add to those. Realistically Rhule and staff are sticking around for at least one year if not two, but keep wasting energy on that narrative. Coach Hoiberg would be coaching somewhere else if he wasn't allowed to build what he currently has.

And yes, Rhule and staff should REALLY be feeling the heat.

Keep those 4 and publicly execute the remainder of the roster. Maybe that will finally break the curse.
They do need to motivate the roster. It seems way too touchy feely with Rhule. Have some heads roll and get max effort and buy in now.

Ya, I guess I don't know what was promised or said. Hoping nothing since he doesn't really have any stats to back that up. I think it will be an open competition.

How do you handle the money, though? Minchey is probably in-demand enough to command 'expected starter'-level money. I don't see us paying multiple guys starter-level money, and I dunno if a guy would accept an 'X money if named the starter in fall, Y money if not' kinda contract.

That doesn't really lend itself to a real open competition environment.

@ShortSideOption Who would be the sure fire QBs that you would’ve like us to go after?

With DR leaving and a hole in the 2026 class with Dayton leaving we need numbers it seems. At least two QB transfers and then hold TJ.

Although I do not believe TJ would do well if he tried to transfer. He would maybe catch on after a huge drop down in programs. Like La Tech level.

Talked to an ND friend. He said they were all convinced he’d go somewhere with a starting guarantee.

I don’t think he’s getting P2 starter money, but there’s no way he’s getting “competition depth” money.

Him and Lateef are probably both getting 1 million a piece. Let the best man win. 2nd best man still gets to be a millionaire.

Just reiterates the incompetence of not only accepting Dayton’s commitment when they legitimately had better options, but not even considering a back up plan should the Ravioli’s look to part ways. You wouldn’t need another transfer qb if you had a kid coming in the ‘26 class.

Not sure there is one? Raiola is ranked as the 5th best QB in the portal, and we all want him gone. Mestemaker from North Texas is the #1 guy, but is rumored to be getting 7 million in the portal, and we shouldn't pay him or anyone that. Go grab another guy that probably is lesser than Lateef and Minchey to help competition a bit.

Coaches probably played this as good as they could have considering how bad of a spot we were in at QB. I just don't like that we were in this spot heading to year 4. Kind of "is what it is" though, it isn't like you were going to turn five star Dylan Raiola away.

Did our QB room have 4.5m allocated to it last year? I know that part of Raiola’s money was adidas money. But that’s an awful lot of money to allocate there.

Top level QBs are ALWAYS worth the money. But for all of the things we need, I think it’s a little premature to be spending big on a QB.

Erm, disagree with that. I wouldn't want to roll into next season with Lateef and a guy with less experience than Lateef. I'd still want to bring in a guy with some experience.

You spend that type of money on a QB if you're a QB away. We just have too many other holes.

I would say that's about right in our QB room last year. Raiola was the lions share, but we had to pay Davila a decent amount to come here and know he was going to be a backup. Lateef getting a nice pay raise this year.
