Love does have a penchant for making the stupidest imaginable plays with an alarming amount of regularity
Frankly, J Love reminds me of Dylan Raiola. All the physical tools in the world, but has this weird lack of feel for making the right play when it’s right in front of him, and especially in pressure situations.

LOL I wonder if I'm this silly regarding penalties with Husker football/basketball/baseball or Niners football.

I have no dog in this, I really don't care about either team...Nobody outside of Chicago thought that hit wasn't worthy of a penalty. Intentional or Dirty? No. Penalty? Abso-freaking-lutely

The rules aren't complicated. Defenseless player has different rules. QB even moreso (but this would have been a penalty on a punt returner or wide receiver in the air, for instance). You got helmet to helmet (yes, even if they lower their head. that doesn't matter) with that much force it's going to be called EVERY TIME (and it was called for the record). It's hard to imagine how it could have been more clear cut.

And the fact that he was taken out of the game is WHY it's an illegal hit. This is the moment of contact:

TBH if it were Mahomes it probably would have been targeting (tbh surprised it wasn't anyway) and possibly a federal crime and they'd lose a first born or something.

No feelings towards either team, but it was a very very high hit, straight helmet to helmet. Everyone knows you can't hit a defenseless player, especially a QB there.

Also, bring it. Niners all the way

Not trying to argue the call. It's called a penalty 10/10 times in the NFL. 5/10 times in college. There was nothing dirty about it.

As you said, it is in fact a penalty. Would be called in the NFL 100 out of 100 times.

Nowhere did I call it dirty tho
"Illegal" came across differently. Could have just said when Love went down without the "illegal hit" added and it wouldn't have been a convo.

So we agree...

But it is illegal (as you just said above) and he was knocked out of the game because of what made it illegal (helmet to helmet contact). Illegal = not legal = penalty ... all of those are the same thing.

Ok. I'm just saying it came across to me and others obviously differently than that.
