So if we make zero changes at QB we're better off next year?
I really don't think anyone is saying that.

If the top QB who is a legacy at the last minute says he wants to be a Husker, you take him, right?

It's a no brainer and if you don't, the backlash from the fans would be huge.

It doesn't work out two years later and now you're lacking a senior QB to lead the team into one of the more tough B1G schedules in 2026.

Trust your true sophomore who has around 4 games worth of experience?

I'm no betting man, but I would bet everything I have saying Rhule and his GM were like 'nope' on that.

You sit down TJ and tell him, 'hey, you're talented and you had a heavy load last year for being a true freshman QB in the B1G. You're going to start one day, but right now, you need to keep getting better in the weightroom and playbook so you're ready for 2027.'

Then you bring in a senior transfer QB.

I think our team is better without Dylan.

which is all that matters.
You’re gonna get raked for this and partially rightfully so because Dylan is a much better QB at this point, however, there is a world where the team could be better next season as a direct result of the $3.5 million we were paying Dylan being spread out among a handful of impact transfers.

We could easily miss a bunch in the transfer portal and you be proven wrong.

But we could also hit on 5 guys @ $750k each and be better because of it.

yes.

our ceiling with Dyldo is extremely limited.

no identity, no leadership, incredibly soft, etc.

without him and with the new OL coach + DC, my hope is we're able to actually establish some of the things that Rhule preached about when hired and that have worked time and again throughout the history of football - getting tougher, running the goddamn ball and exerting our will on our opponents.

now, I will also acknowledge our ceiling with Rhule on the sideline is also extremely limited given he does nothing to provide us with any sort of strategic advantage over any opposing coaching staffs.

long story short - I don't think Dyldo is worth a single win above what can be expected with TJ at QB in 2026.

We don't disagree at all.

I can't read that chart to save my life, but...

I swear Dylan ever successfully threw a good slant pass to the middle.

It wasn't until I saw Lateef did it in the UCLA game that I got excited about it again.
The lack of a slant is maddening because we repeatedly get killed by it in short-to-medium situations. It’s like stealing and it’s bedeviled us for years.

Honestly thought it would be a staple when we showed up with the Raiola/Holgorsen combo but just never happened.

But the question posed is not "Could we take Dylan's $3.5M and make the team better?"

Because my answer would absolutely be yes (we also might not though, just depends what we do with it)

It’s quite clear Dylan has established his ceiling at Nebraska . Maybe with a very elite pass blocking line he can flourish into a mid-round draft pick.

We don’t have enough data points on TJ to determine floor and ceiling

Say what you want about Kong, but Dyldo is A+ work

Raiola: Floor 5, Ceiling 8
Lateef: Floor 3, Ceiling 6 (unless he made some sort of spectacular jump from frosh to soph, but that's unlikely)
so you think Dyldo - he of the 6-9 career B1G record - is worth an additional 2 wins over his replacement all by himself?

okay.

Jotting down all the Raiola haters for when he has a great year at Louisville.

lol what? His performance against Minny is a 5? I hate to see what a 5 looks like when you’re ranking women

That's number of wins next year. Dylan was HORRIBLE against Minnesota...maybe a 3 there...but there's nothing to indicate he'd play every game next year like he did @Minnesota.

Dylan showed after Minnesota that he'd learned a lesson and you saw a much much quicker release.
