So… Where do we go from here?

I tend to think investing in the roster will pay higher dividends next season than revamping the coaching staff.
1million%

Like rational people have said - Rhule ain’t going anywhere in near future due to that buyout

Now - OL? Yup.

DL - you have to think that giving Braddon a depleted room sans Nwaneri and Dasan could be grounds for another run at it

LBs - I’d move on, but I honestly don’t know enough to understand why we are the only P4 program that makes filling gaps look like Calculus

DBs - fine by me

JoBu proved he ain’t the guy.

We saw glimpses of the Dana we thought we were getting once Sir ChecksAlot broke his lower half. Keep him

Keep shorts

Glenn has too much positive history to throw him away yet

Ek should run everything

Barthel - Emmett seems like the exception, not the rule

TLDR: get a new OL and DC (butler can find another NFL gig)

I don’t know that I can rationally justify keeping Dana while firing Jobu.

Dana had a handful likely NFL players to work with while Butler had maybe two?

Both were disappointing but had deficient talent in key areas (OL and DL/LB).

My point is - after all this bullshit with Dylan changing constantly, and mostly UCLA looking exactly like what we all expected when we got him, let’s see. That’s all I’m saying.

JoBu was never the guy. Which is why 52% of this board hated the hire. Because we are fucking SMART…ok?!? Haha

I think the biggest disappointment on defense to me this year was the inability to make impact plays. Barely any sacks and very few turnovers forced. I don’t know whether that’s a scheme issue or personnel issue, or both.

To be as bad as we were with guys that were really highly regarded coming out of HS or portal, has to be at least partially a scheme/coaching issue.

I hear that, but when I watch any of our DL try to get to the passer on third and long, it’s painfully obvious that there’s a talent issue too. We don’t have anyone who can win a one on one matchup on passing downs with any regularity.

I would’ve liked to see more creativity to send extra guys to get home, but it seems like most of the times we did that we would end up whiffing on the QB and get gashed for a huge gain. It happened again today with Ceyair Wright.

It just felt like we played incredibly conservative football this year. We took care of the football on offense, only 9 turnovers, but at what cost? We struggled to find explosive plays or to get defenses to limit numbers in the box all year. On defense, we didn’t give up huge yardage numbers, but we also didn’t disrupt the offense in the form of sacks or takeaways.

Regardless of who is calling the plays on either side of the ball next year, I would’ve like to see something more than lip service paid to creating turnovers and explosive plays.

I would like to see some stats on how many guys we had rushing the passer in 3rd and long situations this year, felt like the majority of the time we only brought three or four, but idk. Not going to get any pressure doing that unless you've got some really well coached impact players at multiple spots.

A more seasoned DL coach might've been able to take these young 4 & 5* guys and help them refine their technique and be more successful rushing the passer (and stopping the run). At the very least, id expect one to be able to make sure his guys knew the plays and where/how to line up.

Win the bowl game

Hit the portal hard as possible

Change some assistants

And hope it works…

I Guess If You Say So GIF

1. Fire Donny to the moon.
2. Fire JoBu to the moon.
3. Replace Bradden
4. Rhule needs to replace these clowns with high level assistants that will challenge him and will bring energy to the team. Example: see Mike Ekeler
5. Don’t overpay to retain the marginal players on our roster
6. Use our supposed increased NIL budget for dudes who are actual game changers. For the love of fucking goodness, stop overpaying for dudes like Dane Key & Dasan Mcollough who are marginally better than a replacement level player.
7. Get back to being a fucking physical team like we were in year 1 & 2 of Rhule.
8. Stop being a punch of pussies.

My biggest disappointment was our lack of size and experience on the DL. All known and measurable deficiencies yet nothing was done…

1. We knew Ty and Nash were impact players and we knew EXACTLY when they would no longer be eligible/available. 2025, this season.

2. We knew that we would be VERY young, mostly sophomores and freshmen if we didn’t add someone(s) from the portal.

3. We know that averaging around/less than 300lbs on the defensive line is too small for the B1G.

These were all known and very clearly measurable deficiencies and seemingly nothing was done. Unacceptable.

We're chronic over thinkers; the fans and it permeates to the administration. Lose two games in a row and you better freak the fuck out and make panic changes every year. No wonder every coach gets stuck in a permanent death spiral.

I don’t think it’s necessarily the losses as much as it is how we lost.
