I think Rhule is the ultimate media guy and sometimes you have to call it like you see it. Like the Minnesota game. They probably didn't say anything that Rhule wasn't saying himself.

I think as long as you don't step over into cheap shot territory then Rhule is gonna be fine with you.

Which is different than some coaches (like a Mike Gundy) who would flip out over very fair critiques. I think if it's fair and not personal -- and accurate -- then Rhule is going to be good with it.

Rhule doesn't even seem to be mad about the whole Carolina situation. He seems to understand he didn't do well enough to be the head coach there.

Not making excuses for him but I do think the discourse has changed due to all the $$$ involved with the players now. I don't think the coaches feel they need to white knight for their players when the players are in some cases making $1m/yr.

So i think the scribes have changed their approach too. They make WAY less than the 21 yr olds they cover. The 21 yr old might make 20x-40x what the beat reporter is making. So I think some of them are like Fuck It, I'm calling this player out. And I think it's fair.

I think comparing what these guys said during Bill Callahan or Bo Pelini era is kind of useless. It's a different world now.

I loved the frost hire for one year. I liked it after 2 years. Was after out after year 3. When you see zero improvement through 3 full years, some might argue regression, why would you believe year 4 or 5 would be better? But yet the admin/coaches gaslighted and made excuses, the media took their ques and amplified the gaslighting and frankly… many fans gaslighted themselves by refusing to believe the “golden boy” was a fraud and in way over his head.

Can you imagine what it would’ve been like if Frost took us to 2 bowl games in his 1st 3 seasons? That being said, Dean’s face tattoo of Scrote’s cock would’ve been epic.

We fired Frost early in his 5th year. He should’ve been fired sooner. He didn’t because he was an alumni. No argument there.

Rhule took us to a bowl game in his second year after not making a bowl game in 8 years — the longest streak in the nation. Should he have been extended mid 3rd year? Maybe not but that’s pretty standard in the coaching market.

Many of us recognize some progress, while still being able to criticize him. I’m not okay with winning 7 games in year 3. But as we’ve seen, there isn’t a perfect formula to this. There aren’t sure-thing hires. We hired a process/developmental coach when massive changes to college football were happening. So, I’ll be patient.

It’s dumb to say there’s not pressure. It’s a pressure cooker at Nebraska, like many other big football programs. For awhile there, we had paid more in buyout money than any other school.

Next season will be rough and the heat will really get turned up on Rhule. Turned up so much a good portion of the fanbase will be out. The season after next season will be do or die and during or after that season, probably after, Rhule will get fired.
