We fired Frost early in his 5th year. He should’ve been fired sooner. He didn’t because he was an alumni. No argument there.
Rhule took us to a bowl game in his second year after not making a bowl game in 8 years — the longest streak in the nation. Should he have been extended mid 3rd year? Maybe not but that’s pretty standard in the coaching market.
Many of us recognize some progress, while still being able to criticize him. I’m not okay with winning 7 games in year 3. But as we’ve seen, there isn’t a perfect formula to this. There aren’t sure-thing hires. We hired a process/developmental coach when massive changes to college football were happening. So, I’ll be patient.
It’s dumb to say there’s not pressure. It’s a pressure cooker at Nebraska, like many other big football programs. For awhile there, we had paid more in buyout money than any other school.
